The longer a lockdown runs, the more a class needs food and water as well as a bathroom. The Guardian Deluxe Classroom Lockdown Kit carries both for a class of 30: a food bar and water pouch for every person, plus an emergency toilet, in one 5-gallon bucket.

The bucket's lid is a toilet seat, with toilet bags, toilet paper, wipes and hand sanitizer inside. A NOAA and AM/FM radio flashlight that never needs batteries keeps the teacher informed, and a deck of survival playing cards gives students something to do.

Why it works:

  • Food and water for every person: 30 x 400-calorie food bars and 30 x 4 oz water pouches are meant to provide nutrition until help arrives, with a 5-year shelf life, plus 10 purification tablets and a hydration bag.
  • Sanitation for an extended stay: a toilet seat lid for the bucket, 2 toilet bags with chemicals, a roll of toilet paper, 100 wet wipes, a bottle of hand sanitizer and an air freshener.
  • Updates without power or batteries: a 4-in-1 NOAA weather band and AM/FM radio flashlight that never needs batteries, an emergency bright stick and a 5-in-1 survival whistle.
  • Gloves and first aid for the teacher: 5 pairs of latex-free gloves and a 37-piece bandage first aid kit for minor cuts.
  • A calmer wait: a deck of survival playing cards to pass the time, plus a large tarpaulin and a roll of duct tape.

Who it's built for:

For teachers and principals, it is the classroom kit for lockdowns that run long. For districts and agencies, it is a standardized kit to stage in every room.
