Rapid Deployment for Supply Line Operations Engineered to speed up critical water supply connections, the R&B Fabrications Large Diameter Hose (LDH) Strap is a heavy-duty tether designed to anchor your 4” or 5” supply line to the hydrant while the engine proceeds to the fire. Built from massive 3-inch wide nylon webbing with a tensile strength of over 22,000 lbs, this strap withstands the extreme drag forces of paying out heavy hose at speed.
Key Features
- Extreme Tensile Strength: Constructed from 3-inch wide industrial nylon webbing rated at 22,550 lbs, ensuring the strap never snaps under the weight of dragging LDH.
- Hydrant Anchor Point: Allows the firefighter to pull a fold of hose from the bed, loop it over the hydrant, and secure it instantly, signaling the driver to "GO."
- Quick-Release Attachment: Features a webbing loop that secures to the engine’s rear grab bar, keeping the strap accessible until the moment of deployment.
- Secure Hose Retention: Uses a heavy-duty zinc-plated adjuster and a robust hook-and-loop (Velcro®) closure to bind the hose fold tightly, preventing premature deployment.
- Glove-Friendly Operation: Equipped with an oversized pull tab that allows firefighters to rip the Velcro open and release the hose easily while wearing thick structural gloves.
- Hydrant Tool Integration: Designed to work seamlessly with the R&B #441 Oversized Hydrant Tool Kit or #443 Tool Bag, keeping wrenches and mallets attached to the supply line.
Why It Matters The "hydrant man" has one of the most pressure-filled jobs on the fireground: catch the hydrant, anchor the line, and wave the engine on—all in seconds. If the hose slips or the strap breaks, the operation stalls. This LDH strap provides a fail-safe mechanical link between the hose and the hydrant, ensuring a smooth lay-out every time.
How to UseSetup: Attach the strap to the tailboard grab bar. Loop the strap around the first coupling/fold of your LDH supply line in the hose bed. Secure with the Velcro closure.Deployment: At the hydrant, grab the strap (and attached hose fold). Loop the strap over the hydrant barrel. Signal the driver. As the engine drives away, the hose pays out from the strap's anchor point.Connection: Use the quick-release tab to free the coupling and connect to the hydrant.
Technical Overview The strap measures 60 inches in length, providing enough slack to wrap around large barrel hydrants. The use of heavy brass rivets and reinforced stitching at stress points ensures longevity in harsh weather conditions.
