On a long, active day, every ounce and every bit of heat adds up, and the Rothco Lightweight Plate Carrier Vest is designed around both. At 1.2 lbs, just over a pound, it keeps your load lean for increased mobility. A skeletonized MOLLE cummerbund trims weight further and provides cooling airflow during intense activities, while integrated MOLLE on the front and back carries the pouches and gear you choose.

Why it works:

  • Less weight on your shoulders: Shedding ounces keeps you moving freely, and this carrier weighs 1.2 lbs.
  • Air keeps moving: During intense activities the skeletonized MOLLE cummerbund earns its place, a design that reduces weight and provides cooling airflow.
  • Gear goes where you want it: Pouches and gear attach to the integrated MOLLE system on the front and back, so the setup changes with the task.
  • Adjusts for prolonged wear: Comfort holds up over hours because the cummerbund and shoulder straps are fully adjustable.
  • Swimmer cut plate fit: Your plate choice stays open: the vest accommodates medium or large swimmer/SAPI/ESAPI plates up to 10" x 13".

Who it's built for:

For the user who counts every ounce and wants air moving through the carrier during intense activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this differ from the Low Profile carrier?▸

Choose the Lightweight Plate Carrier Vest if you want a choice of five colors, including Grey and Olive Drab. Choose the Low Profile Plate Carrier Vest for 7 MOLLE rows on each panel, with loop fabric on the upper three rows for morale patches or flags. Both are 600 Denier polyester, and both top out at 10" x 13" plates.

Which plate shapes fit inside?▸

Swimmer, SAPI and ESAPI cut plates in medium or large fit, up to 10" x 13", so you can match the carrier to the plates you plan to run.

Can I attach my own pouches?▸

Yes. The integrated MOLLE system on the front and back is there for attaching pouches and gear in whatever layout suits you.

Can agencies and departments order the Rothco Lightweight Plate Carrier Vest with a purchase order?▸

Yes. Luminary Global is an SDVOSB and WOSB. We accept purchase orders and GPC for agency and department orders, and offer volume quotes.
