The Emergency Zone Basic Classroom Lockdown Kit adds light and cover to the core classroom supplies, so a room on lockdown has light if the overhead lights go out. Two compact 9 LED flashlights and 5 light sticks let the teacher see and manage the room, while 5 reflective blankets and 5 ponchos are ready to hand out. A bucket toilet, SOS food bars and water pouches cover the basics in one 28 lb kit.

Why it works:

  • Light when the room goes dark: Two compact 9 LED flashlights come with batteries, backed by 5 light sticks.
  • Cover to hand out: Five reflective blankets and 5 ponchos go to the students who need them, with a tarp and plastic sheet for the room.
  • A larger first aid kit: A 175 pc first aid kit puts deeper first aid stock within the teacher's reach.
  • Food and water that keep in storage: Four 3600 calorie SOS food bars and 30 x 4.2 oz SOS water pouches are US Coast Guard approved. They carry a 5-year shelf life, and the bars need no extra water or reheating.
  • Sanitation without leaving: The 5 gallon bucket and Honey Bucket toilet seat serve as the room's toilet, and Eco Gel gels and deodorizes the waste.

Who it's built for:

A teacher who wants the core lockdown supplies plus flashlights, light sticks, 5 ponchos and 5 reflective blankets to hand out.

  • Sheltering a Classroom in Place For the teacher holding a room of students through a prolonged lockdown. The kit sustains a standard classroom with 14,400 calories of food and 30 water pouches when the room is sealed off from the rest of the building.
  • The Sanitation Problem No One Plans For For the safety coordinator equipping rooms with no bathroom access during a lockdown. A full portable toilet built into the 5-gallon bucket, with Eco Gel, liners, and a biohazard bag, handles the hardest part of a long confinement.
  • Informed Behind a Locked Door For staff cut off from the building's status during an emergency. An AM/FM/Weather Band radio and multiple light sources keep a darkened, sealed classroom informed and visible until responders clear it.
  • Treating Injuries Until Responders Arrive For the teacher managing a hurt student while help is still outside. A 175-piece first aid kit with a pair of nitrile gloves covers wounds through the wait.
  • Standardizing Readiness Across a Facility For the administrator equipping every room to one protocol. Packed in a single storable bucket, the kit gives a K-12 school, daycare, university, or place of worship a uniform lockdown solution in each classroom.
