- Secure the rope's bitter end to your non-throwing hand or a fixed anchor.
- For night operations, activate and attach a chemical light stick to the external loops.
- Make verbal contact, then throw the bag upstream and beyond the victim's position.
- Instruct the victim to grab the highly-buoyant BAG itself, not just the rope.
- Use a pendulum motion (tension ferry) to swing the victim to safety; do not pull directly against a strong current.
- After use, rinse, dry completely, and STUFF (do not coil) the rope back into the bag for next deployment.
