Valerie Ellis Lavin
Biography
Valerie Ellis Lavin spent 21 years on active duty in the United States Army, serving as a First Sergeant in Intelligence and Operations across Korea, Iraq, and Central Command. Her career was defined by one mission-critical constant: making sure her people had exactly what they needed to survive and succeed when seconds counted.
She earned the Bronze Star for her service in combat environments, leading teams through the most demanding operational conditions the Army places on its soldiers. When she retired in 2014, the uniform came off. The instinct to protect did not.
In 2016, Valerie founded Luminary Global in St. Petersburg, Florida, with a direct mandate: bridge the gap between battlefield-grade capability and the procurement systems leaving agencies, first responders, and prepared citizens under-equipped. Today Luminary serves federal agencies, sheriff departments, fire rescue divisions, and prepared families nationwide.
Every tactical guide and field manual published under Valerie's authorship reflects 21 years of active duty experience. She does not write from a catalog. She writes from the field.
