Valerie Ellis Lavin
Biography
Valerie Ellis Lavin is a retired U.S. Army First Sergeant and the Founder and CEO of Luminary Global. She served 21 years on active duty in Intelligence and Operations, with assignments and deployments spanning Korea, Iraq, and U.S. Central Command. Her career was built around a simple responsibility: making sure the people entrusted to her had the training, equipment, and confidence to act when the situation demanded it.
A Bronze Star Medal recipient, Valerie led Soldiers in complex operational and combat environments where readiness was not a concept; it was a matter of survival. When she retired from the Army in 2014, the uniform came off, but she did not shed her sense of responsibility to protect people.
In 2016, Valerie founded Luminary Global in St. Petersburg, Florida, to close a gap she had seen throughout her career: the distance between mission need and life-saving capability. Under her leadership, Luminary provides medical, trauma, emergency preparedness, and tactical readiness solutions for federal agencies, law enforcement professionals, first responders, and prepared citizens nationwide.
The field manuals and tactical guides published under Valerie's authorship are grounded in service, leadership, and real-world operational experience. She does not write from theory or from a product catalog. She writes from a career spent preparing people to lead, respond, and save lives when it matters most.
