The Elite First Aid GP IFAK is a vehicle-ready first aid kit that buckles to most car and truck headrests and stays there in plain view. When someone needs a bandage or a sting relief pad, nobody has to search the glovebox. Adhesive fabric, fingertip and knuckle bandages share the pouch with burn gel, sting relief pads and a BleedStop bandage.

Why it works:

  • A fixed home in the vehicle: Everyone riding along knows where to look. An adjustable buckle and strap hold the pouch on most vehicle headrests, where it remains visible.
  • Off the mount and out the door: The kit is not stuck to the seat. Its pull handle detaches the pouch from the mount so it can go with you.
  • Stocked for the everyday: Road-trip first aid usually starts small, and the bandage supply reflects that. Inside are 16 plastic bandages, 5 butterfly wound closures, a liquid bandage and a 2" x 5 yd elastic bandage.
  • Burns and stings on the list: The kit covers small burns and stings too. Two burn gel packets and 6 sting relief pads sit next to antibiotic ointment and antiseptic pads.
  • Extras for a roadside wait: Some stops call for more than bandages. A Mylar emergency blanket, a penlight and a survival whistle are packed in, along with a CPR face shield.

Who it's built for:

Drivers who want a first aid kit that lives in their car or truck get one with a set place on the headrest. Agencies and departments can outfit their vehicles with the same headrest kit in every cab.

At a glance:

  • Bleeding control: A BleedStop bandage
  • CPR: A CPR face shield
  • Also inside: Adhesive fabric, fingertip, knuckle and plastic bandages, gauze pads, a trauma pad, burn gel, a Mylar emergency blanket, a penlight, trauma shears and a survival whistle
  • Size: 5" L x 8" W x 9" H
  • Weight: 1.45 lb
  • Pouch: Vehicle-ready pouch on a removable hook and loop backing panel with MOLLE straps; two D-rings for clips or carabiners; adjustable buckle and strap for most vehicle headrests; pull handle detaches the kit from its mount

The FA185-ADV adds one Quick-Tight Windlass Tourniquet, one NuStat hemostatic gauze pad, one emergency trauma dressing and one vented chest seal, and it adds a nasopharyngeal airway with lubricant jelly. Its extra instruments are curved forceps, iris scissors, 2 scalpels and a scalpel handle. It also adds a burn dressing, Med-Zip wound closure strips, the DEN-TEK dental repair kit and 2 sterile gauze pads sized 3" x 3". Sterile 4" x 4" pads number 4 in the Advanced kit and 2 in the GP IFAK. The GP IFAK weighs 1.45 lb and the Advanced GP IFAK weighs 2.1 lb.
