- While a partner maintains Manual In-Line Stabilization (MILS), measure the casualty's neck from the top of the shoulder to the bottom of the chin using your fingers.
- Unlock the collar's safety buttons, slide the device to the corresponding size indicated on the collar, and push the buttons in to lock the setting.
- Slide the back half of the collar behind the neck, then bring the front half up to cup the chin.
- Wrap the Velcro strap snugly around the neck and secure it firmly.
- Flip the hinged chin piece up to fully support the mandible and lock it in place.
- Reassess the casualty's airway, breathing, and circulation immediately after application.
