Quick Overview

This kit provides the essential tools to manage life-threatening external bleeding from limb and junctional areas, as well as penetrating chest trauma. Its purpose is to empower a trained first responder to stabilize a casualty and prevent death from blood loss until professional medical personnel arrive.

Field Application Steps

  1. Ensure scene safety and don protective gloves.
  2. Identify the source of life-threatening bleeding and expose the wound.
  3. For severe limb bleeding, apply the Windlass Tourniquet high on the limb and tighten until bleeding stops. Record the time.
  4. For penetrating chest wounds, apply a chest seal directly over the injury.
  5. For bleeding in areas where a tourniquet cannot be used, apply hemostatic granules and pack the wound, followed by firm, direct pressure.
  6. After controlling all hemorrhage, cover the casualty with the aluminized blanket to prevent hypothermia and await EMS arrival.
