- Apply a sterile primary dressing to any open wound before wrapping.
- Anchor the wrap below the injury and wrap towards the heart, overlapping each layer by 50%.
- Apply firm, even tension for compression, or just enough tension to secure a dressing or splint.
- Tear or cut the wrap and press the end firmly against the underlying layer to secure the bond.
- After application, immediately check for good circulation, sensation, and movement in the fingers or toes.
- Loosen or remove immediately if signs of poor circulation (numbness, tingling, pale skin) appear.
