Quick Overview

The Elite First Aid General Purpose FAK (Model FA115) is a compact, hard-case first aid kit containing 63 or more individual supplies designed to enable any adult responder to manage minor cuts, abrasions, burns, and sprains in home, vehicle, workplace, travel, or outdoor environments.

The FA115 is organized into two capability categories: bandages and dressings, which account for 58.73 percent of the kit's contents, and antiseptics and tools. The bandage inventory includes 16 adhesive strips, 4 abdominal pads, 4 sterile gauze pads, 10 smaller gauze pads, 2 conforming gauze rolls, and 1 triangular bandage, providing coverage for injuries ranging from minor cuts to larger abrasions requiring secured dressings. The antiseptic and tools category includes a dual-system approach with both alcohol wipes and non-stinging BZK antiseptic wipes, supporting proper wound prep across a range of injury types.

The kit's rigid plastic case protects contents from moisture, crushing, and environmental damage, keeping supplies field-ready across storage locations including vehicle glove boxes, desk drawers, and outdoor packs. At approximately 1 pound and measuring 8.75 inches by 3.25 inches by 6 inches, the FA115 is deployable without adding meaningful weight or bulk to any bag or storage space. The kit is HSA and FSA eligible, confirming its classification as an approved medical preparedness resource.

Standard operating procedures included with the FA115 cover four common injury protocols: minor lacerations, abrasions, minor burns, and sprains. Every treatment protocol begins with an initial assessment and donning of the included black nitrile gloves before contact with the injured person, establishing a protection baseline for both the responder and the patient.

Field Application Steps

1. ASSESS THE SITUATION: Evaluate the injury and scan the immediate surroundings for any hazards before opening the kit or making contact with the injured person. Do not proceed to treatment until you have confirmed the environment is safe for both you and the patient.

2. DON NITRILE GLOVES: Put on the included black nitrile gloves before touching the wound or the injured person. This barrier protects against bloodborne pathogens and cross-contamination for every injury type covered in this kit.

3. CLEAN THE WOUND (LACERATIONS AND ABRASIONS): Use a BZK Antiseptic Wipe to gently clean the wound area directly. Reserve alcohol wipes for cleaning surrounding surfaces or tools, as BZK is non-stinging and preferred for direct wound contact.

4. DRESS THE WOUND: Cover small cuts completely with an appropriately sized adhesive bandage strip (1 inch by 3 inches). For larger abrasions or wounds, use a sterile gauze pad (4 inches by 4 inches) to achieve full wound coverage.

5. SECURE THE DRESSING: If a gauze pad was applied, secure it firmly with the medical tape roll (1 inch). Apply with enough tension to hold the dressing in place without restricting circulation to the affected area.

6. TREAT MINOR BURNS: Run cool water, not cold, over the burn for several minutes to reduce heat and pain. Apply one First Aid and Burn Cream packet to the affected area, then loosely cover it with a sterile gauze pad to protect against contaminants.

7. MANAGE SPRAINS: Use the triangular bandage to create a sling for an injured arm or shoulder to immobilize the injury. The triangular bandage can also be folded and applied to wrap and provide support for a sprained wrist or ankle.

8. REFERENCE THE INSTRUCTION SHEET: Consult the included First Aid Instruction Sheet for additional guidance on any scenario not covered by memory. Keep it accessible inside the case for any responder who may need to deploy the kit.
