Quick Overview

The Elite First Aid Military IFAK Kit is a professional-grade individual first aid kit designed for immediate trauma response, used by military personnel, law enforcement, tactical operators, and prepared civilians in environments where advanced medical care is not immediately available.

The kit is housed in a 600D Cordura Nylon pouch measuring 9.5" H x 7.5" W x 3.5" D, weighing approximately 1.5 pounds. Heavy-duty YKK zippers, a drainage grommet, and MOLLE/PALS webbing attachment ensure the kit remains field-ready under harsh conditions. The lay-flat clamshell design provides immediate, organized access to all components without fumbling during a critical incident.

The component loadout addresses the most lethal field threats through a complete hemorrhage control system. QuikClot Mini Combat Gauze accelerates clotting for severe arterial bleeding that pressure alone cannot stop. The 4" Israeli Emergency Bandage serves as primary dressing, pressure applicator, secondary dressing, and closure bar. Compressed gauze, a latex tourniquet, and a triangular bandage round out the trauma capability, supported by EMT shears, nitrile gloves, surgical tape, a self-adhesive bandage, and lip balm for environmental protection.

Five components carry National Stock Numbers, certifying they meet strict military specifications for quality and reliability. The kit is HSA/FSA eligible, making professional-grade trauma readiness accessible through pre-tax health benefit accounts. Internal elastic loops maintain component organization for instant identification in low light, under stress, or with gloves on.

Field Application Steps

1. MOUNT THE KIT: Attach the IFAK to your load-bearing equipment, plate carrier, or pack using the MOLLE/PALS webbing. Position it for single-hand access by you or a buddy treating you.

2. ASSESS THE CASUALTY: Identify the life-threat before opening the kit. Prioritize severe hemorrhage, as uncontrolled bleeding is the leading cause of preventable death in trauma.

3. ACCESS THE KIT: Open the YKK zippers and lay the clamshell flat in a single motion. All components will be visible and indexed in their elastic loops for immediate identification.

4. DON NITRILE GLOVES: Pull on the included nitrile gloves (NSN: 6515-01-519-9161) before making contact with the casualty. This protects both operator and patient from cross-contamination.

5. APPLY TOURNIQUET FOR LIMB HEMORRHAGE: Deploy the latex tourniquet (NSN: 6515-00-383-0565) two to three inches above the wound site on the affected limb. Tighten until bleeding stops and note the time of application.

6. PACK WOUND WITH HEMOSTATIC GAUZE: For junctional or non-tourniquet-accessible wounds, pack the QuikClot Mini Combat Gauze directly into the wound cavity with firm, continuous pressure. Hold pressure for a minimum of three minutes to allow the hemostatic agent to accelerate clotting.

7. DRESS AND SECURE THE WOUND: Apply the 4" Israeli Emergency Bandage (NSN: 6510-01-460-0849) over the packed wound. Use the integrated pressure applicator and closure bar to secure the dressing and maintain consistent pressure without additional materials.

8. USE COMPRESSED GAUZE FOR SUPPLEMENTAL DRESSING: If the primary dressing is insufficient or a second wound requires treatment, deploy one or both rolls of 4.5" compressed gauze (NSN: 6510-01-503-2117) as a supplemental or secondary dressing.

9. STABILIZE WITH TRIANGULAR BANDAGE: Use the triangular bandage (NSN: 6510-01-525-3695) to immobilize an injured limb, create a sling, or secure dressings on irregular wound sites.

10. SECURE DRESSINGS WITH TAPE: Use the 1" surgical tape or the 3" self-adhesive bandage to reinforce dressing edges, prevent slippage, and maintain wound closure during movement or casualty evacuation.

11. USE EMT SHEARS FOR ACCESS: Deploy the 7.25" EMT shears (NSN: 6515-00-935-7138) to cut away clothing and expose wound sites rapidly. Do not remove shears from the kit until access to the wound is required.

12. MARK AND MONITOR: After treatment is applied, mark tourniquet application time on the casualty if a marker is available. Monitor the casualty continuously and communicate all interventions to incoming medical personnel.
