Quick Overview

The Elite First Aid Patrol Trauma Kit is a compact, rip-open IFAK designed to manage life-threatening traumatic injuries, including massive hemorrhage and penetrating chest trauma, for law enforcement personnel, tactical professionals, and prepared citizens operating before professional medical care arrives.

This kit follows TCCC protocol under the MARCH algorithm, addressing the two most immediately fatal injury categories: massive hemorrhage and compromised respiration. The component loadout includes a Quick-Tight Windlass Tourniquet for limb wounds, NuStat Hemostatic Gauze Pad for junctional injuries in the groin, axilla, or neck, and a Vented Chest Seal for penetrating torso trauma. All seven components are secured by elastic straps and presented instantly upon single-motion rip-open deployment, bypassing the fine motor skill degradation that occurs under stress.

Hemorrhage control capability is supported by an Israeli Bandage with an integrated pressure bar, a Conforming Gauze Roll, and an Elastic Self-Adhesive Bandage for securing packed wounds and maintaining direct pressure. For junctional wounds where tourniquet application is not possible, the NuStat pad is packed firmly into the wound cavity to the source of the bleed, with sustained direct pressure applied for a minimum of three minutes. Nitrile gloves are included for operator protection during casualty care.

The pouch is MOLLE/PALS compatible and mounts to plate carriers, battle belts, or vehicle panels for field-ready deployment across operational environments. Dimensions are 6.25 inches wide, 9.75 inches tall, and 3.25 inches deep, with an approximate weight of one pound. The kit is available in four colors and is HSA/FSA eligible.

Field Application Steps

1. GRIP AND RIP: Identify the pull handle on the pouch and execute one firm, downward motion to rip the pouch open. All contents will be presented on the internal medical panel with no unzipping or additional manipulation required.

2. DON PERSONAL PROTECTION: Put on the nitrile gloves before making contact with the casualty. This protects the operator from bloodborne exposure during all subsequent steps.

3. ASSESS AND IDENTIFY INJURY TYPE: Determine whether the casualty presents a limb wound, a junctional wound in the groin, axilla, or neck, or a penetrating torso injury. This assessment drives immediate tool selection and intervention sequence.

4. APPLY TOURNIQUET FOR LIMB HEMORRHAGE: Place the Quick-Tight Windlass Tourniquet high and tight on the injured limb, as close to the torso as possible. Tighten the windlass rod until all bleeding stops and note the time of application.

5. PACK JUNCTIONAL WOUNDS WITH HEMOSTATIC GAUZE: For wounds where a tourniquet cannot be applied, pack the wound cavity firmly with the NuStat Hemostatic Gauze Pad all the way to the source of the bleed. Apply sustained direct pressure for a minimum of three minutes.

6. SECURE THE DRESSING: Apply the Israeli Bandage or Elastic Self-Adhesive Bandage over the packed wound to maintain constant, direct pressure. Use the Israeli Bandage's integrated pressure bar to prevent the dressing from slipping during movement.

7. EXPOSE AND PREPARE THE WOUND SITE FOR CHEST SEAL: For any penetrating torso injury to the front, back, or side, expose the wound site completely and wipe the skin as clean and dry as possible to ensure proper adhesion of the seal.

8. APPLY VENTED CHEST SEAL: Remove the backing from the Vented Chest Seal and center it directly over the wound. Press firmly from the center outward to eliminate air gaps and prevent air from entering the chest cavity while allowing trapped air to escape through the vent.

9. MONITOR AND MANAGE SEAL PERFORMANCE: Continuously monitor the casualty after chest seal application. If the patient's condition deteriorates, briefly lift one edge of the seal to release trapped air. Note that needle decompression may be required by trained personnel if tension pneumothorax develops.
