Quick Overview

The Elite Patrol Trauma Kit is a Level 2 NSN-certified Individual First Aid Kit designed for trained military, law enforcement, and tactical medical personnel to treat the three primary preventable causes of combat death: massive hemorrhage, airway obstruction, and tension pneumothorax.

The kit contains 11 NSN-certified components organized across three intervention categories: hemorrhage control, airway and respiration, and tools and PPE. Hemorrhage control capability is provided by the NAR CAT Gen7 Tourniquet, QuikClot Combat Gauze Z-Fold, Israeli Emergency Bandage, and conforming gauze. Airway and respiration capability is addressed through the Hyfin Vented Chest Seal Twin Pack, 14-gauge Decompression Needle, 28F Nasopharyngeal Airway, and lubricant jelly. All components are secured with elastic retention loops for immediate identification and field-ready access.

The kit is engineered for deployment under the M.A.R.C.H. protocol, the gold standard framework for Tactical Combat Casualty Care. Each component maps directly to a priority intervention tier: the CAT tourniquet and QuikClot gauze address massive hemorrhage, the NPA manages airway compromise, and the Hyfin chest seals and decompression needle address penetrating thoracic trauma and tension pneumothorax. The rip-open, single-motion tear-away panel allows one-handed access with no zippers, supporting gross motor skill deployment under extreme stress.

The kit measures 8 inches by 6.5 inches by 3.5 inches, weighs approximately 1.05 pounds, and is constructed from heavy-duty nylon. MOLLE-compatible mounting allows secure attachment to plate carriers, belts, or vehicle panels. The kit is HSA and FSA eligible and is intended exclusively for operators with formal TCCC, TECC, or equivalent trauma training.

Field Application Steps

1. LOCATE AND ACCESS THE POUCH: Identify the IFAK on your plate carrier, belt, or vehicle panel. Grip the pull-handle firmly with one hand.

2. DEPLOY THE TEAR-AWAY PANEL: Pull the handle down and away in a single motion to open the compartment completely. All components will be simultaneously exposed for immediate triage assessment.

3. ASSESS THE CASUALTY USING M.A.R.C.H. SEQUENCE: Begin with Massive Hemorrhage before progressing to Airway, Respiration, Circulation, and Hypothermia. Do not skip or reorder priority tiers.

4. CONTROL MASSIVE HEMORRHAGE: For catastrophic limb bleeding, apply the NAR CAT Gen7 Tourniquet proximal to the wound and tighten the windlass until bleeding stops. For junctional or non-compressible wounds, pack the wound cavity with QuikClot Combat Gauze using direct, sustained pressure, then secure with the Israeli Emergency Bandage.

5. MANAGE A COMPROMISED AIRWAY: If the casualty cannot maintain a patent airway, lubricate the 28F Nasopharyngeal Airway with the included lubricant jelly and insert it through the right nostril. Confirm airway patency and monitor for adequate air movement.

6. ADDRESS PENETRATING THORACIC TRAUMA: For open chest wounds, apply the Hyfin Vented Chest Seal Twin Pack, one seal per wound, ensuring full adhesion over the wound site. The multi-channel vented design allows air and blood to escape while preventing re-entry into the pleural space.

7. PERFORM NEEDLE DECOMPRESSION IF INDICATED: If tension pneumothorax is suspected and you are a trained provider, deploy the 14-gauge Decompression Needle at the correct anatomical landmark. This intervention requires formal TCCC or equivalent training and must not be performed outside your scope of practice.

8. REASSESS CIRCULATION AND MANAGE REMAINING WOUNDS: After addressing life-threatening hemorrhage, use the conforming gauze roll and elastic self-adhesive bandage to manage secondary wounds. Reassess the casualty for signs of shock and monitor continuously.

9. PREVENT HYPOTHERMIA AND EXPEDITE EVACUATION: Minimize heat loss through the casualty's wounds and exposure. Stabilizing bleeding is the first critical step in preventing hemorrhagic shock and hypothermia. Initiate evacuation to definitive care as rapidly as the operational environment allows.
