Quick Overview

The Enhanced IFAK Pro is a professional-grade Level 2 individual first aid kit designed for trained operators to manage the three leading causes of preventable death in high-risk environments: massive hemorrhage, penetrating chest injuries, and airway compromise.

Built around the TCCC/MARCH protocol, this kit provides a systematic, prioritized framework for trauma management under fire. The component inventory maps directly to each phase of MARCH, from the NAR CAT Gen7 Tourniquet for limb exsanguination control, to the Hyfin Vented Chest Seal for open penetrating chest wounds, to the 14ga x 3.25" Decompression Needle for tension pneumothorax relief, and the Nasopharyngeal Airway with lubricant for establishing a patent airway in unconscious casualties. Supporting components include compressed gauze, Israeli bandage, abdominal pads, EMT shears, nitrile gloves, and surgical tape.

The kit's drop-leg platform positions critical tools on the thigh for unobstructed access during dynamic movement, vehicle operations, or when plate carrier-mounted equipment is obstructed. The MOLLE-compatible pouch detaches for mounting to a battle belt, pack, or rucksack, giving the operator three distinct deployment configurations without sacrificing the consistent muscle memory required in a trauma scenario. The fully loaded kit weighs approximately 1.75 lbs and measures 7" H x 7.5" W x 2.5" D.

Recommended end users include law enforcement SWAT and patrol officers, tactical medics, Fire/EMS personnel, range safety officers, and remote operations personnel operating in austere environments with extended evacuation timelines. Formal training in TCCC, TECC, or an equivalent casualty care protocol is required before carrying this kit operationally.

Field Application Steps

1. ESTABLISH SCENE SAFETY: Confirm the scene is safe or move the casualty to cover before initiating any care. Don nitrile gloves immediately to maintain BSI protection throughout all interventions.

2. CONTROL MASSIVE HEMORRHAGE: Apply the NAR CAT Gen7 Tourniquet high and tight on any bleeding limb, positioning it as proximal as practical. For junctional or non-limb wounds, pack tightly with compressed gauze and secure with the 4" Israeli bandage using firm, sustained pressure.

3. ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN AIRWAY: Assess the casualty's airway status. If the casualty is unconscious or semi-conscious, coat the NPA with lubricant jelly and insert it to maintain a patent airway and prevent obstruction.

4. TREAT OPEN CHEST WOUNDS: Apply the Hyfin Vented Chest Seal over any open penetrating chest wound, ensuring full adhesion around the wound margins. Use surgical tape to reinforce the seal perimeter if needed.

5. PERFORM NEEDLE DECOMPRESSION IF INDICATED: If the casualty presents with signs of tension pneumothorax, including absent breath sounds, tracheal deviation, or deteriorating respiratory status, perform needle decompression using the 14ga x 3.25" decompression needle at the 2nd intercostal space, midclavicular line.

6. REASSESS CIRCULATION AND HEMORRHAGE CONTROL: Re-evaluate all tourniquet placements for effective tightening and check that wound packing has not shifted. Apply abdominal pads to any large wounds requiring additional coverage and absorption. Monitor for signs of shock.

7. PREVENT HYPOTHERMIA AND ASSESS HEAD INJURY: Minimize heat loss by insulating the casualty from ground contact and covering exposed skin. Conduct a focused assessment for signs of head injury and document neurological status.

8. PREPARE FOR CASEVAC: Reassess all interventions for effectiveness. Communicate the casualty's status, injuries, and treatments rendered to the receiving medical element. Prepare for immediate evacuation to definitive surgical care.
