Quick Overview

The EVAC Systems Raising & Water Recovery Kit (Model EP302RWK) is a pre-packaged, field-ready raising and recovery system designed for Search and Rescue teams executing vertical raising operations, water rescues, and boat recovery missions requiring immediate deployment.

The EP302RWK eliminates the single greatest vulnerability in field rescue operations: a missing component that renders the entire system inoperable. Every element required to build and operate a mechanical advantage system is included and organized within one internal-frame backpack. Full side zippers allow operators to access individual components without unpacking the entire bag, a critical capability in time-sensitive deployments. The kit includes 200 feet of NFPA 2500-compliant rescue rope rated at 6,856 lbs MBS, ten locking carabiners, three single rescue pulleys, one double rescue pulley, a figure 8 descender, anchor plate, webbing, daisy chains, sewn Prusiks, and rope guards.

The system supports four core tactical capabilities: technical rescue using 3:1 or 5:1 mechanical advantage configurations, water rescue and boat recovery in dynamic load environments, redundant anchor management using the anchor plate and webbing, and progress capture using the included sewn Prusiks to prevent load slippage between hauls. All hardware components meet CE EN12278, ANSI Z359.12, or NFPA 2500 certification standards. The backpack and full assembly are manufactured in the United States.

Deployment follows a four-phase protocol: transport to scene, establish a redundant anchor, rig the mechanical advantage system, and protect the rope at all contact edges before initiating the haul. Each phase builds directly on the last, and skipping any step compromises the integrity of the entire system.

Field Application Steps

1. TRANSPORT TO SCENE: Carry the EP302RWK to the rescue site using the internal-frame backpack with adjustable straps. Use the full side zippers to confirm all components are present and accessible before beginning the setup sequence.

2. ESTABLISH THE ANCHOR: Identify a secure natural or artificial anchor point capable of sustaining the expected load. Use the included 30-foot webbing sections, daisy chains, large anchor plate, and locking carabiners to construct a bombproof, redundant master point that is non-extending under load.

3. RIG THE MECHANICAL ADVANTAGE SYSTEM: Construct the appropriate raising configuration, such as a Z-rig for a 3:1 mechanical advantage, using the single and double rescue pulleys, locking carabiners, and 200-foot rescue rope rated at 6,856 lbs MBS. Thread the system correctly so force is multiplied through the pulley configuration toward the anchor.

4. INTEGRATE PROGRESS CAPTURE: Attach one of the included sewn Prusiks (19-inch or 25-inch) to the haul line as a progress-capture device. Position it so the load cannot slip back between hauls, ensuring the system holds position whenever hauling pauses.

5. PROTECT THE ROPE: Place the two rope guards at every point where the rope contacts a sharp or abrasive edge, including cliff lips, metal railings, and boat gunwales. Unprotected rope contact at these points introduces failure risk under load.

6. CONDUCT FINAL SAFETY CHECK AND INITIATE HAUL: Verify every connection point is locked and dressed, confirm the progress-capture device is set, and ensure all personnel are clear of the load path. Begin the hauling operation only after the full system has been checked by a qualified operator.
