Quick Overview

The EVAC Systems TREQ Pack is a professional-grade technical rescue equipment pack designed for search and rescue teams that need rapid deployment capability, organized rope and hardware storage, and convertible carry options in demanding field environments.

The TREQ Pack operates on a dual-compartment system that separates metal hardware from life-safety soft goods. The primary rope bay accommodates 200 to 300 feet of rescue rope depending on diameter, along with patient harnesses and anchor webbing. The secondary hardware compartment houses carabiners, pulleys, rig plates, rescue 8s, and mechanical advantage systems. This separation prevents abrasion damage to rope integrity during transport and deployment. Total internal capacity is approximately 4,000 cubic inches, constructed from heavy-duty Cordura Nylon and manufactured in the USA to Berry Compliance standards.

The convertible carry system gives operators two carry configurations suited to different operational phases. The side duffel handle supports rapid movement from apparatus to staging area. The integrated backpack straps deploy for extended travel over uneven terrain or multi-story stairwell ascents, keeping hands free and reducing fatigue during approach. This flexibility makes the TREQ effective across vehicle transport, backcountry access, and structural rescue environments without requiring a gear swap.

Field readiness depends on consistent post-incident maintenance protocol. Operators must inspect the pack after each use for abrasion, tears, and seam damage at high-stress points including zipper and strap attachment areas. Cleaning requires a mild soap and water solution only. The pack must air dry completely with all compartments open before storage. It must never be stored with wet rope or damp equipment inside, as moisture accelerates mold growth and compromises structural integrity.

Field Application Steps

1. SELECT CARRY METHOD: Assess the distance and terrain between your apparatus and the staging area. Use the side duffel handle for rapid short-distance movement from the vehicle to the scene perimeter, and deploy the backpack straps for extended approaches over uneven terrain or multi-story stairwell ascents.

2. STAGE THE PACK: Place the TREQ on a clean, protected surface at the scene, with a tarp recommended as the baseline standard. This prevents contamination of the pack and its contents from dirt, debris, or chemical hazards present at the operational environment.

3. LOAD THE HARDWARE COMPARTMENT: Systematically organize all metal components into the secondary hardware compartment before loading soft goods. This includes carabiners, pulleys, rescue 8s, rig plates, and mechanical advantage systems. Segregating hardware from soft goods prevents hard edges from compromising rope integrity during transport and deployment.

4. LOAD THE MAIN ROPE BAY: Flake your primary rescue line directly into the main compartment to ensure a clean, tangle-free deployment. This bay also accommodates patient harnesses, anchor webbing, and other soft equipment. The bay supports 200 to 300 feet of rescue rope depending on rope diameter.

5. PRE-STAGE FOR OPERATIONAL SEQUENCE: Configure the pack so the hardware compartment is accessible first. This allows the team to build anchors and establish the rigging system while the rope remains securely stowed and protected in the main bay.

6. ACCESS HARDWARE ON SCENE: Open the dedicated hardware compartment and remove the components required to build the anchor and rigging system as dictated by the operational plan. Do not open the rope bay until rigging is established.

7. DEPLOY THE ROPE: Once rigging is established, open the main compartment and deploy the rope. The pre-flaked rope should pay out smoothly for lowering or hauling operations without tangles or kinks.

8. INSPECT, CLEAN, AND REPACK: Post-incident, inspect the entire pack for abrasion, tears, or seam damage, paying close attention to strap attachment points and zippers. Remove loose dirt with a stiff brush. For heavier soiling, use a mild soap and water solution only. Do not machine wash or use harsh detergents. Air dry completely with all compartments open before repacking. Never store the pack with wet rope or damp equipment inside.
