Quick Overview

The Kemp USA Premium Large Professional Trauma Bag is a 1680D ballistic nylon equipment carriage platform used by EMS personnel, fire-rescue operators, tactical medics, and SAR technicians to transport and organize mission-critical medical supplies in demanding field environments.

The bag's chassis is constructed from 1680D ballistic nylon fabric, providing resistance to abrasion, tearing, and water penetration across compromised surfaces including asphalt, gravel, and wet ground. A replaceable bottom panel functions as a sacrificial wear layer, extending the primary service life of the bag without requiring full chassis replacement. Black nickel metal hardware on all D-rings, clips, and buckles provides high-tensile-strength attachment points rated for the dynamic load of a full ALS loadout, which can reach 25 to 35 pounds.

The bag supports three carry configurations calibrated to operational conditions: top and side grab handles for rapid short-distance repositioning, a gel-foam padded shoulder strap for moderate distances across large incident scenes, and a tuck-away backpack harness deployed via rear panel zipper for hands-free transport across difficult terrain or stairwells. Internal organization is operator-configurable through hook-and-loop removable dividers, allowing dedicated cells for Airway, Breathing, and Circulation supplies. The front organizer panel, zippered clear pouch, and external side pockets create a tiered access architecture that enables immediate retrieval of priority tools without opening the main compartment.

Readiness requires daily pre-deployment inspection covering structural integrity of straps and hardware, chassis condition with emphasis on the bottom panel, and a full contents verification against the unit load plan. After any exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials, the bag must be removed from service and decontaminated using an approved virucidal agent per agency exposure control protocol.

Field Application Steps

1. ASSESS TERRAIN AND SELECT CARRY CONFIGURATION: Evaluate the distance and ground conditions between the apparatus and the patient. Select the backpack harness for unstable terrain or when both hands must remain free, the gel-foam shoulder strap for moderate distances across open incident scenes, and the grab handles for short repositioning from a vehicle compartment.

2. DEPLOY THE BACKPACK HARNESS: From the vehicle, unzip the rear panel of the trauma bag to access the stored dual-strap harness system. Pull both shoulder straps fully clear of the panel before donning.

3. DON AND SECURE THE BAG: Don the bag as a backpack and adjust both shoulder straps for a secure, balanced fit. Fasten the sternum strap to prevent lateral shifting during movement across uneven ground.

4. STAGE THE BAG AT PATIENT SIDE: Doff the bag upon reaching the patient. If the ground is wet or rough, deploy the pull-out kneeling pad and place the bag on top of it to protect the chassis and provide operator knee protection. Orient the front organizer panel facing you for tiered access.

5. TIER 1 ACCESS, IMMEDIATE TOOLS: Unzip the front organizer panel. Don gloves immediately, then access trauma shears, penlight, and any other immediate-use tools staged in the elastic loops. These items must be retrievable without opening the main compartment.

6. TIER 2 ACCESS, PRIMARY SUPPLIES: Open the main compartment lid. Access required medical supplies from the pre-configured divider cells based on patient assessment findings, for example, a tourniquet from the designated bleeding control cell or an airway adjunct from the airway cell.

7. TIER 3 ACCESS, SUPPLEMENTAL EQUIPMENT: If additional capability is required, access the external side pockets for supplemental PPE, diagnostic equipment, or specialty supplies assigned to those compartments per your unit load plan.

8. CONDUCT POST-INCIDENT RECOVERY: After patient hand-off, conduct a full inventory and document all consumed or contaminated items for restocking. Secure all remaining equipment, stow the backpack harness into the rear panel, and return the bag to the apparatus using the top grab handle.

9. PERFORM POST-INCIDENT DECONTAMINATION IF REQUIRED: If the bag was exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials, remove all contents and decontaminate all surfaces using an approved CaviWipe, Sani-Cloth, or equivalent virucidal and bactericidal agent. Follow product-specific contact times and air dry completely before returning the bag to service. Do not machine wash.
