Quick Overview

The R&B Active Shooter / SAR Backpack is a professional-grade, hands-free tactical pack designed for emergency responders who require rapid, organized access to trauma supplies, mass casualty kits, and rescue tools during active shooter incidents, search and rescue operations, and multi-victim events.

The pack is built around three dedicated zippered compartments engineered for systematic deployment. The main compartment (21" H × 10" W × 5" D) accommodates bulkier trauma supplies and up to eight Patient Treatment Kits across the full pack. The middle compartment features external MOLLE webbing for immediate-access hemorrhage control tools, tourniquets, and shear pouches. The lower compartment is configured as a fanny-pack-style section for PPE, diagnostic tools, and secondary aid kits — ensuring the right equipment is reached at the right moment without searching under pressure.

Construction is built to professional-grade field standards. The pack uses DuPont 1000 Denier Cordura for exceptional resistance to abrasion, moisture, UV degradation, and puncture damage. All closures are #8 YKK self-repairing zippers — the heaviest-duty option in the YKK lineup — which correct minor snags automatically, a critical capability when seconds determine outcomes.

The interior is fully operator-configurable. Velcro-compatible foam lining and a removable divider allow responders to segregate supplies by injury type, separate clean from contaminated gear post-intervention, or reconfigure the loadout entirely for mission-specific deployment. Padded contoured shoulder straps, an adjustable chest strap, and a waist belt distribute load evenly across the 36-ounce unloaded frame to reduce fatigue during extended operations.

Field Application Steps

1. CONFIGURE THE MAIN COMPARTMENT: Load bulkier trauma supplies, mass casualty kits, and Patient Treatment Kits into the main compartment (21" H × 10" W × 5" D). This section is your primary response equipment zone and can support the majority of the pack's total eight-PTK capacity.

2. SET UP THE MIDDLE COMPARTMENT FOR IMMEDIATE ACCESS: Stage tourniquets, shear pouches, and hemorrhage control tools in the middle compartment (14" H × 7" W × 3.5" D). These are your highest-priority intervention items and must be retrievable without opening the main compartment.

3. ATTACH CRITICAL TOOLS TO THE MOLLE WEBBING: Thread CAT or SOFTT-W tourniquet holders, chest seal pouches, glove dispensers, or communication pouches onto the external MOLLE webbing on the middle compartment. Position the most time-critical tools for one-handed, eyes-free access during active interventions.

4. LOAD THE LOWER COMPARTMENT WITH PPE AND DIAGNOSTICS: Place personal protective equipment, diagnostic tools, and any secondary aid kit into the lower compartment (8" H × 10" W × 5" D). This fanny-pack-style section is designed for care-phase equipment that is accessed after the immediate threat is controlled.

5. DEPLOY THE INTERNAL DIVIDER: Install or remove the removable divider within the main compartment based on your mission loadout. Use it to segregate supplies by injury type — bleeding versus airway — or to separate clean gear from contaminated gear following intervention.

6. CUSTOMIZE THE INTERIOR LINING: Utilize the Velcro-compatible foam lining to secure and position specific items within compartments. This prevents equipment from shifting during movement through corridors, vehicles, or debris fields and ensures consistent retrieval under stress.

7. ADJUST THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM: Fit and tighten the padded contoured shoulder straps, adjustable chest strap, and waist belt to your body before deployment. Proper suspension distributes load evenly and reduces fatigue during extended search and rescue or mass casualty operations.

8. INTEGRATE A HYDRATION SYSTEM IF REQUIRED: Route a hydration bladder hose through the integrated hose slots built into the pack. Note that the hydration bladder itself is not included and must be sourced separately.

9. PERFORM PRE-DEPLOYMENT INSPECTION: Check all #8 YKK self-repairing zippers for debris or obstructions before deployment. Clear any obstructions and verify all compartments open and close smoothly to ensure full readiness under field conditions.

10. CONDUCT POST-MISSION MAINTENANCE: Wipe down the pack with a damp cloth and air dry — avoid harsh solvents that degrade the Cordura fabric or zipper coating. Inspect the 1000D Cordura for abrasion or tears, and store the pack in a cool, dry environment with zippers partially open to relieve tension during long-term storage.
