- Utilize a two-person carry via the dual end handles to safely transport the hose pack to the staging area (typically one floor below the fire).
- Place the pack on a flat, clear section of the stairwell landing to maximize working space.
- Release both Velcro® straps and unfold the pack so it lays completely flat, exposing the entire 150-foot hose load.
- Visually inspect the hose lay for twists, connect the female coupling securely to the standpipe outlet, and confirm the connection is tight.
- Flake out approximately 50 feet of working line from the top of the pile to facilitate movement onto the fire floor.
- Order the line to be charged once the nozzle team is in position, allowing the hose to flake smoothly from the opened pack.
