Quick Overview

The Elite First Aid GP-IFAK Level 2 is a professional-grade trauma medical system designed for rapid intervention in life-threatening injuries, enabling operators, law enforcement, military personnel, and prepared civilians to manage massive hemorrhage, airway compromise, and penetrating chest wounds before professional medical help arrives.

The GP-IFAK Level 2 is organized around five critical capability categories: bleeding control, airway management, chest wound care, surgical instruments, and general trauma supplies. Key components include a Windlass Tourniquet, Nustat Hemostatic Gauze, Israeli Bandage, Vented Chest Seal, and Nasopharyngeal Airway. The kit's rip-away MOLLE panel enables instant deployment from a vest, pack, or vehicle mount, making it field-ready across law enforcement, wilderness, vehicle, and high-risk worksite environments.

Readiness protocols for this system follow the M.A.R.C.H. algorithm, the gold standard for tactical combat casualty care. The sequence addresses Massive Hemorrhage first, followed by Airway, Respiration, Circulation, and Hypothermia Prevention. This priority order is specifically designed to address the most survivable threats first, maximizing outcomes in the critical minutes before definitive care is available. The Silver Emergency Blanket addresses hypothermia, which can worsen outcomes even in warm environments due to blood loss and shock.

Maintaining deployment readiness requires monthly inspection of the pouch, zippers, and Velcro panel, periodic review of expiration dates on all sterile components, and immediate restocking after any use. Contaminated items must never be returned to the kit. A partially stocked or expired kit creates a false sense of security and must be treated as a mission-critical maintenance failure.

Field Application Steps

1. ASSESS AND CALL FOR HELP: Before treating, ensure the scene is safe and call for professional medical assistance immediately. Begin the M.A.R.C.H. protocol without delay.

2. CONTROL MASSIVE HEMORRHAGE ON LIMBS: Apply the Windlass Tourniquet high and tight on the affected limb, at least 2 to 3 inches above the wound. Tighten until bleeding stops completely and record the time of application.

3. CONTROL JUNCTIONAL BLEEDING: For wounds to the groin, armpit, or neck where a tourniquet cannot be applied, pack the wound cavity firmly with Nustat Hemostatic Gauze. Apply direct, heavy pressure for a minimum of 3 minutes, then secure with the Israeli Trauma Bandage or conforming gauze.

4. OPEN AND SECURE THE AIRWAY: If the casualty is unconscious or has a compromised airway, open it using a head-tilt/chin-lift or jaw-thrust maneuver. Apply lubricant jelly to the Nasopharyngeal Airway and insert it into the right nostril with a gentle rotating motion to maintain a patent airway.

5. INITIATE RESCUE BREATHING IF NEEDED: If the casualty is not breathing, use a CPR Face Shield to begin rescue breathing. Continue until the casualty breathes independently or professional help takes over.

6. SEAL PENETRATING CHEST WOUNDS: Expose the casualty's torso and inspect for entry and exit wounds. Wipe the skin dry around any open chest wound and apply the Vented Chest Seal, which allows air to escape while preventing air from entering.

7. MONITOR FOR TENSION PNEUMOTHORAX: If the casualty's breathing worsens after the chest seal is applied, lift one edge of the seal to release trapped air. A tension pneumothorax is a rapidly fatal condition requiring immediate intervention.

8. CONDUCT A BLOOD SWEEP: Run gloved hands over the casualty's entire body, head to toe, front and back. Check gloves for blood after each pass and address any newly discovered wounds with remaining bandages and gauze from the kit.

9. MONITOR CIRCULATION AND CONSCIOUSNESS: Check the casualty's pulse and level of consciousness continuously. Note any changes and report them to incoming professional medical personnel.

10. PREVENT HYPOTHERMIA: Wrap the casualty in the Silver Emergency Blanket with the reflective side inward to retain body heat. Insulate the casualty from the ground if possible and cover the head, as significant heat loss occurs there even in warm environments.

11. MAINTAIN KIT READINESS AFTER USE: Restock all used items immediately after any deployment. Inspect the pouch, zippers, and rip-away panel monthly, verify expiration dates on all sterile components, and never return contaminated items to the kit.
