Quick Overview

This kit provides the essential tools required to control severe, life-threatening hemorrhage from an arm or leg. It is designed for immediate bystander use at the point of injury to bridge the critical time gap until professional medical responders arrive.

Field Application Steps

  1. Verify scene safety, call for emergency services, and don protective gloves.
  2. Expose the wound by cutting away clothing and identify life-threatening bleeding.
  3. For massive hemorrhage, apply the tourniquet 'high and tight' on the limb, tighten the windlass until bleeding stops, and record the application time.
  4. For manageable bleeding, apply firm direct pressure using the Israeli bandage or trauma pads.
  5. Prevent hypothermia by covering the patient with the emergency blanket.
  6. Monitor the patient and the wound continuously until EMS assumes care.
