Field Application Steps

1. SELECT AND PREPARE YOUR SITE: Identify a stable, level, non-flammable surface such as a kitchen counter or concrete floor. Maintain a minimum of 36 inches of clearance from all combustibles including curtains, paper towels, and cleaning supplies.

2. DEPLOY THE HEAT SHIELD: Place a non-combustible barrier, such as a metal cookie sheet or large ceramic tile, on your selected surface before positioning the stove. This step is non-negotiable and prevents permanent scorching or melting of the underlying surface.

3. STAGE SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Confirm a functional ABC-rated fire extinguisher is within immediate reach of the operational area. A bucket of sand or a fire blanket is an acceptable backup if a fire extinguisher is unavailable.

4. ESTABLISH VENTILATION AND MONITORING: Crack a window in an adjacent room to allow minimal air exchange. Place a battery-operated CO detector in the same room where the stove will operate.

5. ASSEMBLE THE STOVE: Unfold the four aluminum panels and interlock the tabs to form the square stove base. Press down lightly to confirm the unit sits flat and does not rock.

8. IGNITE THE FUEL CELL: Use a long-stemmed lighter or match to ignite the wicks. Allow a moment for the flame to establish, noting it may appear blue and difficult to see initially.

9. PLACE COOKWARE AND SUPERVISE: Carefully center your pot or pan on the stove's top surface. Never leave an active stove unattended, and keep children, pets, and all flammable materials away from the operational area at all times.

10. INITIATE SHUTDOWN: Remove cookware using oven mitts or pot holders. Grasp the fuel cell lid and slide it horizontally over the flame opening, covering it completely. Hold the lid in place for two to three seconds and visually confirm the flame is fully extinguished.

11. COMPLETE COOL-DOWN: Allow all components, including the stove panels, fuel cell, and heat shield, to cool fully to ambient temperature before handling. Do not attempt to move or stow any component while it remains hot.

12. PRESERVE AND STOW: If fuel remains in the cell, press the lid firmly back onto the canister to create a secure seal and store the cell upright. Inspect stove panels for damage, clean off any residue, and store the complete kit in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
