Quick Overview

This kit provides the essential tools for an immediate bystander response to life-threatening bleeding from an arm or leg wound. It is designed to control hemorrhage using a tourniquet or pressure dressings in the critical moments before professional responders arrive.

Field Application Steps

  1. Verify scene safety and immediately don protective gloves.
  2. Expose the injury by cutting away all clothing around the wound.
  3. For catastrophic bleeding, apply the tourniquet high on the limb, tighten until bleeding stops, and record the time.
  4. For less severe bleeding, apply firm, direct pressure using trauma pads secured with a pressure bandage.
  5. Once bleeding is controlled, wrap the patient in the emergency blanket to prevent shock.
  6. Report all interventions and the time of tourniquet application to arriving EMS personnel.
