Quick Overview

This kit provides the essential tools for immediate control of life-threatening extremity and junctional hemorrhage in a compact, environmentally-sealed package. It is designed for point-of-injury care by first responders or trained laypersons to bridge the gap until professional medical help arrives.

Field Application Steps

  1. Verify scene safety, open the kit using the tear-notch, and don nitrile gloves.
  2. Expose the wound by cutting away clothing and identify the source of life-threatening bleeding.
  3. For catastrophic limb bleeding, apply the SOF® Tourniquet HIGH & TIGHT and twist the windlass until bleeding stops.
  4. For wounds where a tourniquet cannot be used, pack the wound cavity firmly with compressed gauze and apply the Super Stop pressure bandage.
  5. After controlling the bleed, prevent hypothermia by wrapping the casualty in the emergency blanket.
  6. Document the tourniquet application time with the marker and prepare for handoff to EMS.
