Quick Overview

These sterile closures are used to mechanically pull the edges of minor, straight-edged lacerations together, which supports natural healing and can reduce scarring. They are intended for use on gaping cuts that are not severe enough to require professional suturing.

Field Application Steps

  1. Confirm the wound is a minor laceration appropriate for closure; control all active bleeding with direct pressure.
  2. Thoroughly clean and dry the skin surrounding the wound to ensure maximum adhesion.
  3. Anchor one adhesive wing firmly to the skin on one side of the laceration.
  4. Manually push the wound edges together, then pull the closure across the gap and secure the second adhesive wing.
  5. Apply additional closures as needed, spaced approximately 1/8 inch (3mm) apart, to distribute tension evenly.
  6. Apply a sterile secondary dressing over the closures to protect the site from contamination.
