- Confirm the wound is a minor laceration appropriate for closure; control all active bleeding with direct pressure.
- Thoroughly clean and dry the skin surrounding the wound to ensure maximum adhesion.
- Anchor one adhesive wing firmly to the skin on one side of the laceration.
- Manually push the wound edges together, then pull the closure across the gap and secure the second adhesive wing.
- Apply additional closures as needed, spaced approximately 1/8 inch (3mm) apart, to distribute tension evenly.
- Apply a sterile secondary dressing over the closures to protect the site from contamination.
