Quick Overview

The R&B Fabrications HS-100 fire hose strap is a professional-grade logistical carrier that converts 100 feet of 1¾" double-jacketed attack hose into a compact, single-firefighter-portable bundle for structural, high-rise, and standpipe operations.

The HS-100 addresses a critical readiness problem in multi-story fire attack: unmanaged hose becomes a liability during stairwell ascents and advancement to the fire floor. The quad-strap assembly with Velcro hook-and-loop closures cinches the hose into a stable, predictable load. Dual molded rubber handles provide balanced two-handed carry optimized for use with structural firefighting gloves, while the shoulder carry profile allows the bundle to drape over the SCBA cylinder, freeing both hands for tools, irons, or stairwell railings.

Deployment capability is built into the carrier design. When the operator reaches the standpipe outlet on the floor below the fire, all four Velcro release tabs are pulled outward simultaneously, freeing the hose to flake out with minimal friction. The strap assembly remains at the connection point while the nozzle firefighter advances, which keeps the deployment point clear and water application on schedule.

The HS-100 is engineered exclusively for 100 feet of 1¾" double-jacketed hose. It is not rated for larger diameter hose, longer sections, or any life safety application. Velcro integrity is a mission-critical maintenance point: contamination from mud, ice, oil, or debris renders closures ineffective and creates a dropping hazard. Inspection of stitching, handles, and reflective trim is required at the beginning of each shift and after each use.

Field Application Steps

1. PREPARATION: Lay the strap assembly flat on a clean surface with all four straps fully open and hook-and-loop surfaces facing up. Confirm Velcro surfaces are clean, dry, and free of debris before loading.

2. HOSE LOAD: Fold 100 feet of 1¾" double-jacketed attack hose into a department-approved configuration, either accordion or horseshoe. Position the nozzle and couplings per your agency's standpipe procedures.

3. POSITIONING: Place the folded hose bundle squarely in the center of the open strap assembly. The bundle must sit centered to ensure balanced carry and predictable deployment.

4. SECUREMENT: Starting with the innermost straps, cinch each Velcro strap as tightly as possible and ensure all strap ends are fully engaged. A tight pack is more stable during transport and deploys more predictably under fireground conditions.

5. VERIFICATION: Lift the completed bundle by the dual rubber handles and confirm the load does not shift or sag. Stage the field-ready pack in the designated apparatus compartment.

6. REMOVAL AND TRANSPORT: On arrival at the structure, remove the bundle from the apparatus using the dual rubber handles. For stairwell ascent, drape the bundle over the SCBA cylinder to free both hands for tools and railings.

7. STAGING AT DEPLOYMENT POINT: Arrive at the floor below the fire and locate the standpipe outlet. Place the bundle on the deck and orient the appropriate coupling toward the water source.

8. RELEASE: Forcefully pull the release tab on each of the four Velcro straps outward and away from the bundle. All four straps must disengage fully before the hose is connected.

9. DEPLOYMENT: Connect the hose to the standpipe outlet. The nozzle firefighter advances and pulls the hose, which flakes directly from the deployment point. The strap assembly remains at the connection point and does not travel with the line.
