Quick Overview

The R&B Model 378 Front MOLLE Pouch is a compact, general-purpose tactical pouch designed for operators who need secure, environmentally resistant carriage of mission-essential small items on any PALS/MOLLE compatible platform.

Constructed from 1000 Denier Cordura nylon, the Model 378 provides a main compartment measuring 5.5 inches high by 4.5 inches wide by 3 inches deep, with capacity sufficient for up to two standard 4-inch pressure dressings or equivalent small equipment. The flap-and-buckle closure system delivers a positive, audible, tactile lock that resists debris fouling and ice seizure that would render zipper closures inoperable in austere field conditions. Authorized load classes include trauma components, navigation and signaling equipment, administrative sustainment items, and personal survival gear.

Deployment onto any PALS grid requires a deliberate alternating weave through both the platform webbing and the pouch's rear attachment straps, secured by heavy-duty terminal snaps. Bypassing the alternating weave and simply threading the straps behind the platform webbing creates an unstable mount that risks equipment loss during dynamic movement. A correctly mounted pouch will not sag, slide, or rock when lateral or vertical force is applied.

The Model 378 provides significant water and weather resistance but is not waterproof or submersible. Mission-critical electronics or medications requiring complete moisture protection must be sealed in a supplementary dry bag before placement inside the pouch. The weight limit is 3 lbs (1.4 kg); exceeding this threshold places undue stress on stitching and the PALS webbing of both the pouch and the host platform.

Field Application Steps

1. IDENTIFY MOUNTING LOCATION: Select a minimum 2-column by 4-row section of PALS webbing on your plate carrier, chest rig, assault pack, or belt. Confirm the location does not interfere with weapon draw, magazine access, or other critical gear already on the platform.

2. UNSNAP REAR ATTACHMENT STRAPS: Release both rear PALS attachment straps from their snaps so they are fully free and ready to weave.

3. EXECUTE INITIAL WEAVE: Starting from the top, thread both straps down behind the first row of PALS webbing on the platform.

4. EXECUTE ALTERNATE WEAVE THROUGH POUCH: Pull the straps through and thread them behind the first row of webbing on the back of the pouch itself.

5. CONTINUE ALTERNATING WEAVE: Return to the platform webbing and continue the alternating pattern, weaving behind platform webbing then pouch webbing, until all available rows of webbing have been utilized.

6. SECURE TERMINAL SNAPS: Pull both straps taut to eliminate all slack, then fasten the terminal snaps with a positive, audible click. Apply lateral and vertical force to confirm the pouch does not sag, slide, or rock.

7. LOAD CONTENTS BY PRIORITY: Place heavier or less-frequently accessed items such as batteries at the bottom of the compartment. Place priority items such as a compass on top for fastest retrieval under stress.

8. CLOSE AND SEAL THE FLAP: Pull the top flap fully down over the pouch opening, ensuring complete coverage of the opening.

9. ENGAGE THE SIDE-RELEASE BUCKLE: Insert the male end of the buckle into the female end until it locks with an audible click.

10. CINCH THE ADJUSTABLE STRAP: Pull the loose end of the nylon strap to remove all remaining slack. This compresses the load, eliminates noise from shifting contents, and further seals the flap against environmental ingress.

11. ACCESS CONTENTS BY FEEL: To retrieve contents, locate the buckle by touch, squeeze the sides of the male buckle to release the mechanism, lift the flap, and retrieve the required item. This sequence is executable with one gloved hand without visual confirmation.
