Quick Overview

The Rothco Deluxe Tactical 2-Point Sling is a convertible weapon retention and carry system used by military and law enforcement operators to secure, carry, and rapidly transition a long rifle between two-point and single-point configurations based on mission requirements.

The sling supports two distinct deployment configurations tied to specific tactical conditions. Two-point configuration is the default for general patrol, sentry duty, and extended movement, providing maximum weapon stability, reduced operator fatigue, and hands-free capability for navigation, communication, and rendering aid. Single-point configuration is indicated for CQB, vehicle operations, and breaching, where ambidextrous shoulder transitions and maximum range of motion are operationally required. The ability to convert between configurations without removing the sling from the body is the core readiness advantage of this system.

The structural system consists of 1.25-inch nylon webbing as the primary load-bearing component, with integrated bungee sections near attachment points that absorb shock during dynamic movement, reduce weapon bounce, and maintain a stable shooting platform. Two quick-release buckles serve as both the primary weapon attachment interfaces and emergency detachment points, allowing instant sling and weapon separation when entanglement or medical access requires it. Sling length adjusts between 50.25 and 64.5 inches via a friction slider to accommodate operator size, load-bearing equipment, and carry position.

Pre-operation inspection is a non-negotiable readiness protocol for this system. Operators must inspect the full nylon length for cuts, fraying, or UV degradation, check all stitching at bungee and attachment junctions, actuate each buckle for positive lock and smooth release, and verify the adjustment slider holds securely under load before every operational period.

Field Application Steps

1. WEAPON VERIFICATION: Confirm the weapon is cleared and on safe before beginning sling installation. No sling attachment procedure begins on a weapon that has not been verified clear.

2. ATTACHMENT TO WEAPON: Connect one quick-release buckle to the rear sling mount at the stock and the second quick-release buckle to the forward mount at the handguard or rail using the webbing attachment loops or clips.

3. FIT ADJUSTMENT: Don the sling over your body and load-bearing equipment, then adjust the friction slider to remove slack. The weapon should hang securely at the operator's preferred carry position while still allowing unrestricted shouldering.

4. WEBBING MANAGEMENT: Roll all excess webbing and secure it with the integrated excess strap fasteners. Unsecured webbing is a snag hazard and a tactical liability in any environment.

5. FUNCTION CHECK: Practice shouldering the weapon from 2-point carry and verify that both quick-release buckles are positively seated. The sling is not mission-ready until this check is complete.

6. TRANSITION TO SINGLE-POINT: When approaching a high-maneuverability environment such as a building entry, maintain positive control of the weapon, then depress the forward quick-release buckle and detach it from the forward sling mount.

7. SINGLE-POINT CONVERSION: Immediately connect the released male buckle into the dedicated single-point conversion buckle or loop located near the rear attachment point on the sling body.

8. CONVERSION CONFIRMATION: Confirm the buckle is fully seated by listening for an audible click and applying a firm tug. Do not enter a high-maneuverability environment until positive seating is confirmed.

9. EMERGENCY DOFFING: In the event of severe entanglement, the operator being pinned, or a requirement for immediate medical access, depress either main quick-release buckle to instantly separate the sling and weapon from the body. This action is reserved for emergencies only.
