The extra-fine polyester mesh, rated at 300 holes per square inch, blocks mosquitoes, sand flies, and midges, while the integrated polyester floor closes off the ground perimeter against crawling pests including spiders, ticks, and ants. This makes it mission-ready in austere base camps, emergency relief shelters, and backcountry settings where traditional netting cannot be rigged.

Barrier integrity is the critical performance variable in this system. Entry is accomplished through a bottom-edge slip-over design with no zipper, and the operator must ensure the net's base lies flat and unbroken against the cot deck or ground surface after entry. Any gap in the perimeter seal is a direct insect entry point and renders the protection protocol ineffective.

Operators must understand the system's declared limitations before deployment. It provides no protection from precipitation, wind, or cold temperatures and must be used inside a primary weather shelter during adverse conditions. All materials are flammable, DEET-based repellents must never be applied directly to the mesh, and the system is rated for a single operator with a compact sleeping system only.

Field Application Steps

1. SITE SELECTION AND PREPARATION: For cot deployment, confirm the cot is on stable, level ground and check the frame for protruding sharp objects that could snag or tear the netting. For ground deployment, clear a footprint of approximately 72 inches by 25 inches of all sharp rocks, sticks, and debris that could puncture the polyester floor.

2. COMPONENT INVENTORY: Remove all components from the carry bag and account for both fiberglass poles and the net tent before beginning assembly. Do not proceed if any component is missing or shows damage identified during the pre-deployment inspection.

3. POLE ASSEMBLY: Unfold both shock-corded poles, allowing the internal elastic cord to guide each section into place. Verify that every ferrule connection is fully seated before continuing.

4. POLE THREADING: Lay the net tent flat on the ground with the floor side facing down. Feed each pole through its designated diagonal sleeve without forcing. Forcing a pole through a sleeve risks tearing the mesh or snapping the pole.

5. FRAME ERECTION: Seat one end of the first pole into a corner grommet, flex the pole into an arch, and seat the opposite end into the corresponding grommet. Repeat with the second pole to form the crossed A-frame structure.

6. COT OR GROUND PLACEMENT: For cot use, lift the fully assembled tent and center it over the cot surface, then secure the integrated tie-down straps to the cot frame to prevent lateral shifting during rest. For ground use, place the assembled tent on the prepared surface and rely on body weight inside the tent as the primary anchor. In windy conditions when the tent is unoccupied, place weight directly on the interior floor.

7. ENTRY AND BARRIER SEAL: Lift one long edge of the net high enough to enter with your sleeping bag and pad, then move inside. Once inside, press the entire bottom edge flat against the cot deck or ground surface to create an unbroken perimeter seal. Confirm there are no gaps before settling for rest.

8. ESSENTIAL ITEM STOWAGE: Place immediate-access items including headlamp, communication device, and navigational aid into the interior mesh pocket. This prevents loss of critical equipment in bedding during the rest cycle.
