Quick Overview

The First Aid Only Deluxe First Responder Kit is a 172-piece advanced BLS and trauma management system designed for certified first responders, EMTs, paramedics, and tactical medics to deliver immediate, life-sustaining intervention at the point of injury.

This kit is organized by operational purpose across seven capability categories: massive hemorrhage control, wound management, sprain and fracture care, burn management, medical and environmental management, eye injury management, and PPE with tools. Its hemorrhage control loadout centers on the SOFT-T XS windlass tourniquet and Celox hemostatic gauze, addressing the leading causes of preventable pre-hospital death. The kit bridges the critical gap between point of injury and EMS arrival, and is rated for single-patient critical care or multi-patient minor injury response.

Deployment protocol follows a six-step sequence: scene safety and PPE donning, hemorrhage control with tourniquet application, secondary sweep and wound management, shock and hypothermia prevention using the aluminized rescue blanket, continuous patient monitoring, and structured EMS handoff. The field manual emphasizes noting tourniquet application time, never removing the tourniquet in the field, and packaging contaminated materials in the included biohazard bag prior to handoff.

Readiness sustainment requires monthly inspection of all inventory, expiration dates, and sterile packaging integrity. After each deployment, the kit must be returned to 100% mission-capable state before returning to service. Critical items including the tourniquet, Celox gauze, and trauma dressings are staged in the exterior pocket for immediate access, consistent with professional-grade field protocol.

Field Application Steps

1. SCENE SAFETY AND PPE: Confirm the machinery involved is locked-out and tagged-out and that the scene is safe to enter. Don nitrile exam gloves and the eye and face shield immediately upon opening the kit before any patient contact.

2. INITIAL ASSESSMENT AND HEMORRHAGE CONTROL: State your training level to the patient, then remove saturated improvised dressings from the wound. Apply the SOFT-T XS tourniquet high and tight on the upper arm, tighten the windlass until all pulsatile bleeding stops and the distal pulse is absent, and record the exact time of application.

3. SECONDARY SWEEP AND WOUND MANAGEMENT: Use the 7.25-inch bandage shears to cut away clothing and expose the full injury picture. Apply trauma pads or sterile gauze directly to additional wounds, then secure with conforming gauze roll or a Hema-Seal trauma dressing.

4. SHOCK AND HYPOTHERMIA PREVENTION: Position the patient supine if not already done. Deploy the aluminized rescue blanket over the patient to minimize convective and evaporative heat loss associated with significant blood loss and hemorrhagic shock.

5. MONITOR AND REASSESS: Continuously monitor the patient's level of consciousness and verify that bleeding has not resumed beneath or around the tourniquet. Do not remove the tourniquet under any circumstances in the pre-hospital setting.

6. PREPARE FOR EMS HANDOFF: Package all contaminated supplies in the biohazard bag. Prepare a verbal report covering mechanism of injury, injuries identified, all interventions performed including tourniquet placement and application time, and current patient status.
