Quick Overview

The Guardian 10-25 Person First Aid Kit is a ANSI Z308.1-2021 Class A compliant workplace first aid kit designed to equip trained layperson responders with the tools and protocol needed to manage minor injuries across offices, schools, and light industrial sites of 10 to 25 personnel.

The kit's capability spans nine component categories: personal protective equipment, wound cleaning and preparation, minor and moderate bleeding control, burn treatment, eye injury management, sprain and fracture support, environmental and shock management, and reference documentation. Core supplies include vinyl exam gloves, ABD combine trauma pads, antiseptic BZK wipes, burn gel packets, sterile eye wash, an instant cold compress, a triangular bandage, and an emergency mylar blanket. The included 52-page Urgent First Aid Guide Book serves as a field-ready procedural reference for all layperson responders during deployment.

This kit is authorized for treatment of minor cuts and scrapes, minor burns, sprains and strains, and minor eye irritations from particulate or splash. It is not equipped for arterial hemorrhage, airway obstruction, significant chemical eye exposure, or other major medical emergencies. The kit contains no tourniquet, no hemostatic dressing, and no oral medications. Any injury presenting beyond its defined scope requires immediate EMS activation.

Readiness sustainment requires a monthly inspection protocol covering case integrity, supply inventory against the ANSI Class A list, expiration date verification, and serviceability confirmation of all sterile single-use items. After every use, a full resupply action is mandatory. Failure to restore the kit to a fully compliant state creates a documented safety and regulatory liability for the operator's organization.

Field Application Steps

1. SCENE SAFETY AND ASSESSMENT: Verify the scene is safe before approaching the patient. Confirm the injury is within kit scope by ruling out arterial spurting, airway compromise, or major medical emergency, all of which require immediate 911 activation.

2. ACTIVATE EMS IF NECESSARY: Assign a second individual to call 911 if any injury exceeds a minor cut, burn, or sprain. For moderate lacerations with controlled bleeding, professional medical follow-up is recommended even when immediate 911 activation is not required.

3. ESTABLISH BSI AND EXPOSE THE WOUND: Don vinyl exam gloves before any patient contact to establish Body Substance Isolation. Use bandage scissors to carefully cut away clothing and fully expose the injury site.

4. CONTROL BLEEDING WITH DIRECT PRESSURE: Unpack a 5-inch by 9-inch ABD Combine Trauma Pad and place it directly onto the wound. Apply firm, steady direct pressure with your gloved hand and maintain it until bleeding is controlled.

5. CLEAN THE WOUND MARGINS: Once bleeding is controlled, use antiseptic BZK wipes to clean the skin around the wound margins only. Do not apply BZK wipes inside the wound bed.

6. APPLY TOPICAL ANTIBIOTIC AND DRESS THE WOUND: Apply a triple antibiotic ointment packet to the wound area if protocol allows, and check patient allergy status before application. Place a fresh sterile gauze pad or ABD pad over the wound as the primary dressing.

7. SECURE THE DRESSING: Wrap the limb with the 2-inch gauze roll to hold the dressing firmly in place. Verify the wrap does not restrict circulation, then cut the roll end with bandage scissors and secure it with adhesive tape.

8. ASSESS AND MANAGE FOR SHOCK: Evaluate the patient for signs of shock including pale skin, confusion, and rapid breathing. If any signs are present, deploy the emergency mylar blanket by wrapping it around the body with the face clear, and have the patient sit or lie down.

9. ADVISE THE PATIENT AND REPORT THE INCIDENT: Direct the patient to seek formal medical evaluation regardless of apparent wound severity. Document and report the incident per your organization's policies and dispose of all contaminated materials properly.

10. RESTOCK THE KIT IMMEDIATELY: Inventory all supplies used and initiate your organization's reorder procedure before returning the kit to its storage location. The kit must be restored to a fully ANSI Class A compliant state without delay.
