1. STAGE ALL KITS IN DESIGNATED LOCATIONS: Place the Deluxe Survival Kit in an accessible home location such as a hall closet, under a bed, or on garage shelving. Place one Auto Kit in the trunk or cargo area of each primary vehicle, secured so it does not block access to the spare tire. Place the Survival Mini in a daily-use bag or a desk drawer at your primary place of work. Do not consolidate all kits in one location.
2. ASSESS AND RETRIEVE: Upon a disruptive event, confirm immediate safety and retrieve the kit assigned to your current operational environment. Person 1 at home retrieves the Deluxe Survival Kit. Person 2 in a vehicle retrieves the Auto Kit. A person isolated from both retrieves or deploys the Survival Mini.
3. ESTABLISH LIGHT: Deploy the Hand Rechargeable Flashlight immediately by squeezing the handle repeatedly to generate charge. Set up the 30-hour candle on a stable, non-flammable surface in a ventilated space for sustained low-level ambient light. Never leave the candle unattended.
4. GATHER INTELLIGENCE: Activate the AM/FM Radio by inserting the included batteries. Tune to local NOAA weather or emergency broadcast stations to determine the scope and expected duration of the event. Use the Notepad and Pencil to record critical information from broadcasts.
5. ESTABLISH WARMTH: If home heating fails, wrap Emergency Blankets around the body to retain up to 90 percent of body heat. Activate Hand/Body Warmers by opening the packet and exposing it to air, then place warmers in pockets or between clothing layers. Do not apply warmers directly to skin.
6. RATION SUSTENANCE: Unpack food and water from the Deluxe Survival Kit. Allocate 3 food bars and 4 water pouches per person per day. The home kit supports exactly two persons for 72 hours under this protocol. Do not use water pouches for hygiene purposes.
7. TREAT FIELD WATER IF NEEDED: Fill a 1-Liter Hydration Bag with source water. For cloudy water, pre-filter through cloth before treating. Drop one water purification tablet into the bag, seal it, and wait 30 minutes before consuming through the integrated straw.
8. SECURE A STRANDED VEHICLE: If stranded in a vehicle, pull off the roadway to a safe position and activate hazard lights immediately. Retrieve the Auto Kit and deploy the Road Triangle at least 100 feet behind the vehicle to warn approaching traffic.
9. MANAGE VEHICLE WARMTH: Conserve fuel by running the engine no more than 10 to 15 minutes per hour. When the engine is off, use the Emergency Blanket and Hand/Body Warmer to maintain core temperature. Don the Emergency Poncho as an additional insulating layer.
10. SIGNAL FOR RESCUE FROM ISOLATED POSITION: If operating on the Survival Mini with no vehicle and no home access, activate the Emergency Bright Stick by bending to break the internal vial and shaking to initiate the chemical reaction, providing 8 to 12 hours of 360-degree passive light. Use the Emergency Whistle to signal distress: three sharp blasts is the universal distress signal and carries farther than a voice with significantly less energy expenditure.
11. CONDUCT SEMI-ANNUAL INSPECTION: Every six months, open all four kits and verify all components are present against the packing list. Check expiration dates on all food bars and water pouches, set a calendar reminder 6 months before the 5-year expiration date, and replace radio batteries annually regardless of prior use. Operate all flashlights, inspect Emergency Blankets for tears, and confirm pocket knives are clean, oiled, and functional. Log the inspection date and all replaced items in the included Notepad.
12. REPLACE ALL CONSUMED OR EXPIRED ITEMS IMMEDIATELY: Any item used from any kit must be replaced as soon as possible to restore full operational readiness. Replace expired food, water, and batteries with items of equivalent or superior specification. A kit uninspected for more than 6 months should be treated as partially non-operational until verified.
