Quick Overview

The Guardian 5-Person 72-Hour Comfort Survival Kit is a centralized base camp emergency system that provides five individuals with the sustenance, shelter, and safety equipment needed to sustain group operations for a minimum of 72 hours during a disaster or evacuation scenario.

The kit is organized across six operational categories: sustenance and hydration, shelter and exposure protection, tools and utility, light and communications, first aid and hygiene, and morale. Hydration is provisioned at 12 water pouches per person, rationed at four pouches daily, supported by 50 purification tablets and five 1-liter hydration bags for sourcing and treating external water. Food bars are calculated at nine per person, issued three per day for a 1,200-calorie daily intake. All resources are finite and require strict rationing from the onset of deployment.

Shelter capability is built around three 2-person tube tents deployed on a nylon rope ridgeline, paired with five mylar emergency sleeping bags and five waterproof ponchos that double as ground tarps. The shelter system provides critical wind and rain protection but offers negligible insulation and is not rated for heavy snow loads or extreme cold. Operators should seek natural windbreaks and insulate the ground surface with available debris to improve thermal performance.

Deployment follows a four-phase protocol: Activation and Transit, Site Establishment, Resource Allocation, and Sustained Operations. During Phase II, roles are assigned across security, first aid, inventory, and communications. A semi-annual inspection protocol covers expiration dates, equipment function testing, container integrity, and rally point confirmation, ensuring the kit remains field-ready when it is needed most.

Field Application Steps

1. CONFIRM ACCOUNTABILITY AND RETRIEVE THE KIT: Verify all five group members are present and uninjured before moving. Retrieve the Guardian Kit from its designated storage location and assign one responsible individual to transport the Rolling Bag to the evacuation point.

2. SELECT AND SECURE A CAMPSITE: Choose dry, level ground that is clear of unstable trees, overhead power lines, and active floodwaters. Elevated terrain is preferred to reduce flood exposure and improve situational awareness.

3. ERECT ALL THREE TUBE TENTS: String the nylon rope between two trees as a ridgeline and deploy all three 2-person tube tents. Designate sleeping assignments so that all five personnel have a protected position inside a tent.

4. ASSIGN OPERATIONAL ROLES: Delegate responsibilities across the group covering four functions: security and lookout, first aid, inventory management, and communications. Clear role assignment prevents task overlap and ensures no critical function is left unmonitored.

5. CONDUCT A FULL INVENTORY: Use the included notepad to verify all kit contents against the component list. Log any missing or damaged items immediately so resource planning accounts for actual available supply.

6. ISSUE INDIVIDUAL EQUIPMENT: Distribute one emergency sleeping bag, one poncho, one hygiene kit, and one face mask to each of the five personnel. These items are pre-counted for individual issuance and should not be pooled.

7. EXECUTE THE RATIONING PROTOCOL: Issue the first 24-hour ration of four water pouches and three food bars per person. Brief all group members on the full 72-hour rationing plan. The group leader retains control of remaining rations to enforce discipline across the operational period.

8. ESTABLISH LIGHTING AND COMMUNICATIONS DISCIPLINE: Use the dynamo hand-crank flashlight for active tasks requiring directed light. After dark, activate one emergency bright stick inside the tent for low-level area illumination. Reserve the 30-plus hour candle for outdoor use only and never introduce open flame inside any tent.

9. DESIGNATE A SANITATION AREA: Establish a hygiene and waste site at least 100 feet from the shelter perimeter and any water sources. Use wet wipes in place of water for personal sanitation to preserve the hydration supply.

10. SIGNAL FOR ASSISTANCE WHEN APPROPRIATE: Use the 5-in-1 emergency whistle to signal distress if external rescue or assistance is within range. Three blasts is the internationally recognized distress signal. Use the flint starter to build a signal fire outdoors if conditions permit.

11. ADDRESS INJURIES WITHIN SCOPE: Treat minor, non-life-threatening injuries using the Deluxe First Aid Kit. Do not attempt procedures beyond your training or certification level. Seek professional medical assistance as soon as it becomes available.

12. MAINTAIN GROUP COHESION AND MORALE: Engage the group with the Survival Playing Cards during rest periods to reduce stress and reinforce shared knowledge. Each card includes printed survival tips that support ongoing group education throughout the operational period.
