Quick Overview

The Kemp USA 8x10 ABD Pad is designed for managing large surface area wounds with heavy bleeding or exudate, such as major trauma, burns, and post-surgical incisions. Its high-absorbency core and large size make it a primary tool for EMS, trauma centers, and surgical units to quickly cover and contain significant fluid loss.

Field Application Steps

  1. Confirm initial hemorrhage is controlled at the source via direct pressure, packing, or tourniquet.
  2. Open sterile pouch using peel-tabs, exposing the pad without contaminating its surface.
  3. Place the pad directly over the wound or primary dressing, ensuring full coverage of the affected area.
  4. Secure the pad firmly in place using medical tape or an elastic compression wrap.
  5. Continuously monitor the dressing for signs of bleed-through (strike-through).
  6. If a wrap is used, periodically assess distal circulation to ensure it is not too tight.
