Quick Overview

The Kemp USA Maxi Trauma Bag is a professional-grade, non-rigid EMS bag designed for the organization, transport, and rapid deployment of Basic Life Support and advanced first aid loadouts by first responders, athletic trainers, law enforcement, and search and rescue personnel.

The bag is constructed from 600D Nylon, providing abrasion resistance and moderate water resistance suitable for field operations. Its internal architecture includes a hook-and-loop adjustable padded divider that creates dedicated supply cells, lid-mounted elastic loops for immediate airway adjunct access, and two zippered end pockets designated for diagnostics and PPE. The Star of Life emblem and reflective striping provide passive day and night identification on scene. Dual carry handles and a padded shoulder strap with D-ring attachment points support both short-distance and hands-free transport across difficult terrain.

Readiness protocol for this bag requires pre-event configuration of the internal divider, daily zipper and strap inspection, and a mandatory full inventory after any deployment where supplies were used. The 600D Nylon shell will saturate under sustained rainfall, requiring moisture-sensitive supplies to be individually sealed before storage. After any exposure to blood or bodily fluids, the bag must be removed from service and decontaminated using CaviWipe or an approved service-level disinfectant before returning to operational readiness.

This bag is designated for BLS and advanced first aid capability. It is not designed for prolonged field sustainment, technical rescue applications requiring load-rated components, or use as a primary Advanced Life Support drug and equipment container. Operator scope of practice governs all equipment stocked and deployed from this system.

Field Application Steps

1. PRE-EVENT DIVIDER CONFIGURATION: Adjust the hook-and-loop padded internal divider to create dedicated compartment cells matched to your exact loadout before the event. This configuration must be set in advance and is not intended for adjustment during deployment.

2. PRE-SHIFT READINESS INSPECTION: Visually inspect all zippers for smooth, unobstructed operation. Check both carry handles and the padded shoulder strap for fraying, stitching damage, or compromised D-ring attachment points.

3. MOISTURE PROTECTION OF SENSITIVE SUPPLIES: Individually seal all moisture-sensitive contents, including sterile dressings and electronics, in waterproof sealed bags before loading. The 600D Nylon shell will shed light rain but will saturate in a downpour and is not waterproof.

4. APPROACH AND BAG STAGING: Carry the bag to the point of care using the padded shoulder strap to keep both hands free during approach. Stage the bag on the side opposite the primary injury, elevated on a barrier such as a blanket or jacket to protect contents from ground contaminants.

5. EQUIPMENT ACCESS: Pull both dual zippers fully open to expose the main compartment. Retrieve airway adjuncts from the lid-mounted elastic loops, which are staged for first-visible, first-access retrieval. Access diagnostic equipment from the designated zippered end pocket.

6. CONTAMINATION CONTROL DURING OPERATION: Never return soiled equipment to any compartment of the bag. Designate a separate trash area at the point of care before beginning treatment and maintain that separation throughout the incident.

7. POST-INCIDENT PRELIMINARY INVENTORY: Conduct an immediate inventory of all compartments before moving the bag from the scene. Secure all zippers and straps before transport to the resupply area.

8. POST-INCIDENT INSPECTION AND DECONTAMINATION: After any deployment where supplies were used, conduct a full interior and exterior inspection. If exposure to blood or bodily fluids occurred, remove the bag from service and decontaminate all surfaces, zippers, seams, and handles using CaviWipe or an approved service-level disinfectant, following manufacturer contact time instructions. Air dry thoroughly before reloading.

9. RESUPPLY AND EXPIRATION MANAGEMENT: Restock all consumed supplies using a first-in, first-out rotation. Check expiration dates on all consumable supplies monthly and log all restocking activity in your loadout management record.

10. STORAGE: Store the bag in a climate-controlled, dry environment away from direct UV light, which degrades nylon over time. Do not stack heavy objects on top of the bag, as this deforms the shell and stresses zipper assemblies.
