Quick Overview

The Kemp USA Ultra EMS Bag is a high-capacity mobile medical platform used by paramedics, EMTs, firefighters, and tactical medics to deliver BLS and ALS care with integrated oxygen delivery from initial patient contact through transport.

The bag consolidates a comprehensive trauma loadout and a D-sized oxygen cylinder into a single organized unit, eliminating equipment redundancy and streamlining on-scene workflow. Its 600D nylon chassis is water-resistant and features a reinforced bottom with four polymer feet that elevate the bag off contaminated surfaces. Reflective yellow striping enhances operator and equipment visibility during nighttime and high-traffic road operations.

Storage architecture is purpose-built for speed under pressure. The wide-opening main compartment enables immediate visual inventory of all primary contents, while integrated D-cylinder straps immobilize the aluminum tank and keep the regulator accessible. Two removable clear-window pouches allow operators to pre-configure modular sub-kits by intervention type, and two large exterior side pockets provide immediate access to diagnostic tools without opening the main compartment.

Readiness protocols are non-negotiable for this platform. Pre-shift inspection covers zipper function, seam integrity, cylinder pressure above the agency-designated service minimum, and expiration dates on all dated supplies. Post-call restocking is a mandatory step: all expended items are replaced, soiled surfaces are decontaminated, and the bag is returned to its designated storage location in a 100% mission-ready state before the unit returns to service.

Field Application Steps

1. CONFIGURE MODULAR POUCHES: Designate and label both removable clear-window pouches by intervention type before the operational period. Example loadout: Pouch 1 for airway management (OPAs, NPAs, BVM mask, tube holders) and Pouch 2 for IV/IO access (catheters, start kits, saline locks).

2. STAGE THE MAIN COMPARTMENT: Secure a D-cylinder with a minimum pressure of 1000 psi in the integrated straps, with the regulator attached and the oxygen wrench secured. Place hemorrhage control supplies (tourniquets, pressure dressings, chest seals) in the top layer and diagnostics and secondary dressings below.

3. LOAD SIDE POCKETS: Stage the BP cuff, stethoscope, and sharps shuttle in the two large exterior side pockets for immediate access without opening the main compartment.

4. CONDUCT PRE-SHIFT INSPECTION: Inspect all zippers, seams, handles, and strap attachment points for damage. Confirm cylinder pressure is above the agency-designated service minimum, verify the oxygen wrench is secured, and visually check modular pouch contents through the clear windows.

5. APPROACH AND PLACE THE BAG ON SCENE: Carry the bag hands-free via the adjustable shoulder strap on approach. Place the bag on a stable, upstream, upwind surface resting on its reinforced polymer feet, positioned away from vehicle hazards.

6. CONDUCT INITIAL ACCESS: Fully unzip the main compartment flap to perform an immediate visual survey of all primary contents before initiating patient care.

7. EXECUTE PATIENT CARE BY PRIORITY: For trauma, access top-layer hemorrhage control supplies first. For respiratory distress, confirm tank pressure, open the cylinder valve, and attach the appropriate delivery device. For advanced interventions, retrieve the pre-configured modular pouch and place it on a clean surface beside the patient.

8. SECURE SHARPS IMMEDIATELY POST-INTERVENTION: Place all used needles and sharps into the designated sharps container without exception before any other recovery actions are taken.

9. CONDUCT EQUIPMENT RECOVERY: Account for all equipment, including modular pouches and diagnostic tools, before the patient is moved from the scene.

10. RE-STAGE FOR TRANSPORT: Partially close the bag to secure all contents for transport. Do not leave flaps or pockets open during patient movement.

11. COMPLETE POST-CALL RESTOCKING: Upon return to station, remove and replace all expended disposable items. Swap the oxygen cylinder if pressure is below operational threshold. Decontaminate any soiled surfaces per local infection control policy before restocking. Return the bag to its designated storage location in a 100% mission-ready state.
