Quick Overview

The Mayday Roll & Go 1-Person Survival Kit is a field-ready 72-hour emergency deployment system that provides one individual with critical life-sustainment resources, including food, water, shelter, lighting, and medical capability, during natural disasters or infrastructure failures requiring evacuation or shelter-in-place.

The kit is built around a mobility-first design. Its backpack-on-wheels platform with telescoping handle allows operators to move 19 pounds of supplies across corridors, parking structures, and evacuation routes without physical strain. Shoulder straps serve as a secondary carry configuration for stairs or debris-heavy terrain where rolling is not feasible. This dual-mode transport capability makes the kit viable across the widest range of deployment environments.

Sustainment resources are precisely calculated for a single individual over 72 hours under moderate stress. The 3,600-calorie food bar is rationed at one-third per 24-hour period, and six water pouches are allocated at two per day. One Heater Meal is reserved for cold-condition morale and core temperature support. The kit's field manual explicitly notes that high physical exertion or extreme temperatures will increase metabolic demands beyond the kit's designed capacity, and that no water purification capability is included.

Shelter and communications protocols are integrated into the deployment SOP. The Blue Tarp and Yellow Rope support lean-to or A-frame construction, while the Large Solar Blanket provides thermal regulation with up to 90 percent body heat retention when worn reflective side inward. The Dynamo FM Radio and LED Flashlight enables monitoring of Emergency Alert System broadcasts using a hand-crank charge, with a recommended 15-minutes-per-hour listening protocol to conserve power.

Field Application Steps

1. RETRIEVE AND CONFIGURE THE KIT: Pull the Roll & Go kit from its designated storage location. Extend the telescoping handle and move immediately using the wheel system along corridors and flat surfaces.

2. TRANSITION TO CARRY MODE FOR OBSTACLES: Retract the handle and transfer to shoulder straps when encountering stairs, debris fields, or terrain where rolling is not feasible. Do not delay evacuation except for critical personal items such as prescription medications or infant care supplies.

3. ASSESS AND ESTABLISH SHELTER: At your pre-designated safe rally point, assess the immediate area for hazards before stopping. If weather is a factor, deploy the Blue Tarp using the Yellow Rope as a ridgeline, positioned to block wind and precipitation, and don the Adult Poncho for personal protection during setup.

4. DEPLOY THERMAL PROTECTION: Wrap the Large Solar Blanket around your body with the reflective side inward to retain up to 90 percent of body heat. In a shelter-in-place configuration, the Solar Blanket can also be used reflective side up as a vapor barrier or signaling device.

5. ESTABLISH COMMUNICATIONS: Deploy the Dynamo FM Radio and LED Flashlight. Hand-crank for 1 to 2 minutes to generate an initial charge. Scan FM frequencies for active Emergency Alert System broadcasts and conserve battery by listening for 15 minutes at the top of each hour, then powering off.

6. INITIATE SUSTAINMENT PROTOCOL: Do not consume food or water rations during the first 12 to 24 hours unless medically necessary. Beginning at the 24-hour mark, consume one-third of the 3,600-calorie food bar and two 4.225 oz water pouches per day. Reserve the Heater Meal for the coldest part of the day or when morale requires support.

7. MANAGE LIGHTING BY PRIORITY: At dusk, activate one 12-hour light stick by bending until the inner vial breaks and shaking to distribute the chemical reaction. Reserve the flashlight for focused tasks such as gear checks or perimeter inspection. The second light stick is held in reserve.

8. MAINTAIN HYGIENE PROTOCOLS: Use hand sanitizer or wet naps before eating and after every use of the sanitation bag. Execute all hygiene routines from the included kit consistently. In post-disaster environments, hygiene failure is a primary vector for illness and degraded operational capability.

9. APPLY MEDICAL INTERVENTION IF REQUIRED: For severe, life-threatening external hemorrhage only, apply the Bloodstopper Trauma Dressing using firm, direct pressure to the wound. Call for professional medical assistance immediately. Do not use this dressing for internal bleeding or any procedure beyond your training level.

10. CONDUCT READINESS INSPECTION EVERY SIX MONTHS: Check expiration dates on the food bar and water pouches, which carry a standard 5-year shelf life. Verify sealed packaging on all medical items. Hand-crank the Dynamo Radio and Flashlight for 60 seconds to confirm operational function. Document the inspection with a dated checklist stored inside the kit.
