Quick Overview

The Roll & Go Survival Kit is a 2-person, 72-hour mobile emergency evacuation system designed to sustain two individuals through the critical gap between disaster onset and organized relief, with wheeled transport for operators of limited physical capacity.

This kit provides four core life support capabilities: sustenance via Mayday Food Bars and water pouches, environmental shelter via tarp and solar blankets, light and communications via a dynamo radio and flashlight, and basic trauma and hygiene management. Deployment protocol follows a four-phase sequence covering immediate egress, en route operations, shelter establishment, and a 72-hour sustainment cycle. All procedures are oriented toward resource conservation and risk minimization until professional relief is available.

A critical readiness consideration is water. The 12 included pouches provide approximately 1 liter per person total per day, which falls below the FEMA recommendation of 1 gallon per person per day. The kit contains no purification system. Sourcing and treating supplemental water is the highest operational priority, and the manual explicitly designates a portable water filter as the single most important augmentation.

Field readiness requires a full inspection every six months. This includes expiration date verification on all consumables, a 60-second crank test on the dynamo radio and flashlight, and a physical inspection of the wheel assembly, zippers, and sealed item packaging. Items should be cycled out six months before expiration to ensure the kit is deployment-ready when conditions require it.

Field Application Steps

1. IMMEDIATE RETRIEVAL AND EGRESS: Retrieve the Roll & Go Kit from its designated storage location, extend the telescoping handle, and confirm the wheel assembly is functional before exiting the structure.

2. HAZARD ASSESSMENT: Before proceeding, scan the immediate environment for downed power lines, blocked routes, or debris fields. Plan your route along paved surfaces where possible to protect the wheel assembly.

3. TERRAIN ADAPTATION: On smooth or paved terrain, roll the kit using the telescoping handle. On rough terrain, stairs, or debris fields, retract the handle and carry the kit via the shoulder straps to prevent wheel assembly failure.

4. EN ROUTE COMMUNICATIONS: Power the Dynamo FM Radio by cranking steadily and monitor NOAA and FEMA emergency broadcast frequencies for route updates, evacuation order changes, or updated threat information.

5. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION: Don both adult ponchos at the first sign of precipitation. Do not wait until personnel are already wet, as wet clothing accelerates heat loss and increases hypothermia risk.

6. LIGHT DISCIPLINE: Use the Dynamo flashlight intermittently for pathfinding rather than continuously, conserving internal battery charge for extended operational periods.

7. HYDRATION DISCIPLINE: Limit water consumption during movement to sips only as necessary. Full rationing protocol is 2 pouches (8.45 oz each) per person per day, totaling 4 pouches drawn from the 12-pouch supply.

8. SHELTER ESTABLISHMENT: At the destination, identify a defensible position on the lee side of a structure or in dense foliage. Clear the ground using work gloves, lay the blue tarp as a ground cover, and use the yellow rope to construct an A-frame or lean-to overhead if no formal structure is available.

9. SITE ORGANIZATION: Designate a sanitation area away from the shelter perimeter using the Rest Stop Sanitation Bag. Inventory all kit contents and activate one light stick for continuous area lighting after dark.

10. 72-HOUR RATIONING PROTOCOL: Immediately implement the sustenance plan: one-third of a Mayday Food Bar plus 2 water pouches per person per day. Reserve the 2 Heater Meals for the coldest period of the operational cycle and consume immediately after heating.

11. TRAUMA MANAGEMENT: For severe bleeding, place the Bloodstopper Trauma Dressing directly on the wound with the sterile pad against the injury site. Apply firm, continuous direct pressure with both hands, elevate the limb if possible, and maintain pressure until bleeding is controlled or professional medical assistance is available. Do not attempt wound packing or tourniquet improvisation with this dressing.

12. CANDLE AND FIRE SAFETY: If using the Slow Burn Emergency Candle, place it on a stable, non-flammable surface away from the solar blanket and tarp. Ensure adequate cross-ventilation in any enclosed shelter or vehicle to prevent carbon monoxide buildup.
