Quick Overview

This kit is designed for immediate, on-person treatment of life-threatening bleeding and minor injuries in outdoor, hunting, or range environments. Its primary function is to provide the critical tools—a tourniquet, chest seal, and hemostatic dressing—to stabilize a casualty until professional medical help is available.

Field Application Steps

  1. Identify life-threatening hemorrhage and immediately access the kit.
  2. For severe limb bleeding, apply the tourniquet high and tight and twist the windlass until bleeding stops.
  3. For penetrating torso wounds, clear the surface and apply the vented chest seal directly over the wound.
  4. For severe bleeding where a tourniquet cannot be used, pack the wound with the NuStat hemostatic pad and apply firm, direct pressure.
  5. Record the time of tourniquet application with the marker and treat the casualty for shock using the emergency blanket while awaiting evacuation.
