Quick Overview

This system is a lateral transfer aid designed for moving patients between two adjacent surfaces, such as an ambulance cot and a hospital bed. Its purpose is to mitigate provider back injuries by using a semi-rigid board and a low-friction rolling cover to convert a dangerous lift into a safe, low-effort slide.

Field Application Steps

  1. Position and secure the two transfer surfaces, adjusting heights to be as level as possible.
  2. Log-roll the patient to their side and place the assembled transfer board and rolling sheet underneath their torso.
  3. With operators on both sides, use the patient's draw sheet to smoothly slide them across the device onto the destination surface.
  4. Once the patient is fully on the new surface, log-roll them again to cleanly remove the device.
  5. Center the patient, ensure their comfort and stability, and raise safety rails as required.
