Field Application Steps

2. DEPLOY AREA ILLUMINATION IMMEDIATELY: Pull the top section of one or both collapsible LED lanterns upward to expose the LED array and activate. Place on a stable, central surface to provide safe area lighting for the entire room.

3. ACTIVATE LIGHT STICKS AS CONTINGENCY ILLUMINATION: If lantern batteries are unavailable or depleted, bend each light stick tube until the inner vial snaps, then shake to activate. Deploy light sticks to maintain safe low-level illumination while preparing battery-dependent systems.

4. INSTALL BATTERIES AND ACTIVATE THE WB RADIO: Insert user-supplied batteries into the AM/FM/WB radio and power on. Tune to your pre-identified local NOAA Weather Band frequency, or scan the weather band until a clear broadcast is received.

5. ESTABLISH A RADIO MONITORING PROTOCOL: Listen for official updates, storm tracks, and emergency instructions. Conserve battery life by conducting listening checks for 5 to 10 minutes at the top of each hour, then switching the unit off between checks.

6. ASSIGN A TASK FLASHLIGHT FOR NAVIGATION: Keep one Pocket CREE Mini LED flashlight accessible to any individual who needs to move through unlit areas of the structure. Maintain a minimum of 36 inches of clearance from all combustible materials, never leave a burning candle unattended, and ensure a fire extinguisher is accessible before igniting.

10. USE THE DYNAMO SIREN TO SIGNAL RESCUERS IF NEEDED: Activate the siren switch on the dynamo tool to emit a loud audible alarm. Use this function to alert rescuers to your location when verbal communication is not sufficient.

11. CONDUCT A POST-EVENT INSPECTION: After the outage is resolved and the kit has been used, perform a full inspection before restowing. Replace all consumed or depleted batteries, replenish any activated light sticks or burned candles, and confirm all 18 components are present and correctly stowed in the nylon pouch.
