QuikClot Combat Gauze is a hemostatic dressing used to control severe, life-threatening hemorrhage from deep, penetrating, or junctional wounds. Its primary function is to be packed directly into a wound cavity to accelerate blood clotting where a tourniquet cannot be used.

Field Application Steps

  1. Expose the wound completely and identify the exact source of bleeding.
  2. Pack the Z-folded gauze directly and tightly into the wound cavity, targeting the bleeding source.
  3. Apply firm, unwavering direct pressure to the packed wound for a minimum of 3 minutes.
  4. Once bleeding is controlled, secure the packing with a pressure dressing.
  5. Do not remove the gauze in the field; reassess for re-bleeding during evacuation.
