The QuikClot EMS 4x4 dressing is designed for the temporary external control of moderate to severe bleeding that standard gauze cannot stop. It is a primary intervention for injuries in non-tourniquetable areas or as an adjunct for extremity wounds not requiring a tourniquet.

Field Application Steps

Expose the wound and place the QuikClot dressing directly onto the source of bleeding.
Apply firm, continuous, and direct pressure over the dressing for a minimum of 3 minutes; do not lift the pad to check the wound during this time.
Once bleeding is controlled, leave the QuikClot dressing in place and secure it with a pressure bandage.
Monitor the injury for any re-bleeding and transport the patient to definitive medical care.
