Quick Overview

The Multi-Pro Trauma Pack is a specialized medical equipment transport system designed to carry a primary oxygen cylinder and comprehensive trauma supplies hands-free, enabling EMS, SAR, tactical medicine, and wildland fire personnel to move efficiently through austere or dynamic environments during casualty response.

The pack is built around a molded ABS plastic liner that securely houses "C", "D", or Jumbo D oxygen cylinders, preventing shifting during movement and providing significant impact protection for delicate equipment. The outer shell is available in 1000 Denier Cordura for high-abrasion SAR and wildland fire deployments, or Black Vinyl for TEMS and EMS environments where rapid decontamination is a protocol requirement. A tuck-away shoulder harness converts the bag from a duffel to a backpack configuration, preserving full hands-free mobility across difficult terrain.

Organizational capability is built into the system through removable, color-coded modular pouches aligned to M.A.R.C.H. treatment priorities. Red houses hemorrhage control supplies, blue covers airway management, green consolidates vascular access and drug kit components, and yellow holds assessment tools. Clear vinyl windows on each pouch allow immediate visual confirmation of contents without breaking the seal on the pouch, reducing time-to-treatment at the casualty site.

Readiness sustainment requires post-mission decontamination, immediate restocking of consumed supplies, hardware inspection, and full air drying before storage. Periodic readiness checks should confirm O2 cylinder pressure, expiration dates on perishable supplies, zipper and buckle function, and ABS liner integrity. The pack stores best in a climate-controlled, dry location away from prolonged direct sunlight to prevent degradation of fabric and plastic components.

Field Application Steps

1. SELECT CARRY MODE: Unzip the rear concealment pocket and deploy the tuck-away shoulder harness. Cinch down any unused straps to prevent snagging during movement through vegetation or confined spaces.

2. LOAD THE OXYGEN CYLINDER: Seat the oxygen cylinder, a "C", "D", or Jumbo D size only, firmly into the ABS plastic liner. Ensure the regulator is protected and route O2 tubing to an accessible position before closing the compartment.

3. ORGANIZE SUPPLIES BY COLOR CODE: Load the Red Pouch with tourniquets, pressure dressings, and hemostatic agents. Load the Blue Pouch with OPA/NPA, laryngoscope, ET tubes, and suction. Load the Green Pouch with catheters, saline lock, and drug kit components. Load the Yellow Pouch with stethoscope, BP cuff, and pulse oximeter.

4. CONDUCT FINAL PRE-DEPLOYMENT CHECK: Close the main compartment and lift the pack by the top handle to assess load balance. Don the pack and adjust the shoulder harness for a secure, stable fit before beginning movement.

5. EXECUTE INGRESS IN BACKPACK CONFIGURATION: Move to the casualty using the backpack configuration to keep hands free for balance, trekking poles, or other equipment. The 12-inch width and 7-inch depth profile minimizes snagging on vegetation and rock outcroppings. Remain mindful of vertical clearance in confined or overhead terrain.

6. POSITION THE PACK AT THE CASUALTY SITE: Place the pack on a stable, level surface near the patient's head and torso to minimize movement distance during treatment. Avoid positioning where the pack could be kicked, stepped on, or displaced during care.

7. OPEN THE MAIN COMPARTMENT: Use the large zippers to fully open the main compartment lid and lay it flat. This action simultaneously presents all color-coded pouches in an organized workspace without requiring additional setup time.

8. ACCESS AND RETRIEVE SUPPLIES: Identify the required pouch by color based on the current treatment priority. Visually confirm the correct tool through the clear vinyl window, then open only the specific pouch needed to retrieve it.

9. CONDUCT POST-MISSION SUSTAINMENT: Decontaminate the exterior and any exposed interior surfaces per agency protocol, prioritizing the Black Vinyl model after fluid exposure. Immediately inventory and replace all consumed medical supplies, inspect for torn fabric, broken zippers, or cracked buckles, and allow the pack to air dry completely before stowing.
