Quick Overview

The R&B Model 374 Top MOLLE Pouch is an externally-mounted modular expansion component designed for rapid access to mission-critical medical and operational items, used by tactical medics and emergency operators on PALS/MOLLE compatible platforms.

The Model 374 attaches to the R&B #371 Tactical Medical Backpack via two vertical PALS attachment straps that interweave through the host platform's webbing grid and lock with bottom securing snaps. The main compartment measures 10 inches wide by 5 inches high by 3 inches deep, providing 150 cubic inches of dedicated storage. The 1000 Denier Cordura nylon body and number 10 YKK AquaGuard zipper provide field-ready protection against abrasion, moisture, and high-wear operational conditions.

Proper deployment of the Model 374 requires correct over-and-under strap weaving through a minimum 6-column by 3-row PALS grid section. Failure to interweave the straps fully and secure the directional snaps is identified as the primary point of attachment failure. A correctly mounted pouch will show zero sag, shift, or play when pulled aggressively from all angles.

Sustained readiness requires post-mission emptying, brush-cleaning with mild soap and water, air drying in a shaded and ventilated area, and storage in a cool dark location. Machine washing and detergents are prohibited, as they degrade the water-resistant properties of the Cordura fabric and zipper. Sensitive or sterile contents must be stored in a sealed waterproof bag inside the pouch, as the system is water-resistant but not waterproof.

Field Application Steps

1. MISSION ANALYSIS AND LOAD PLANNING: Identify all high-priority items requiring immediate access, such as NPAs, OPAs, chest seals, decompression needles, tourniquets, gloves, and a headlamp. Stage selected items and confirm they fit within the 150 cubic inch volume without placing excessive stress on the zipper or seams.

2. SELECT MOUNTING LOCATION: Identify a PALS grid section on the host platform with a minimum of 6 columns by 3 rows of available webbing. Position the empty pouch aligned to the desired top row before beginning strap attachment.

3. WEAVE THE FIRST ATTACHMENT STRAP: Pass one vertical strap under the first webbing row, then back through the first pouch loop. Continue the over-and-under weave pattern to the end of the strap run.

4. WEAVE THE SECOND ATTACHMENT STRAP: Repeat the identical over-and-under weave procedure with the second attachment strap, maintaining consistent tension throughout.

5. SECURE AND VERIFY ATTACHMENT: Pull both straps taut and fasten the directional snaps, confirming a positive audible click on each. Aggressively pull the mounted pouch from all angles. No sag, shift, or play is acceptable before proceeding.

6. STAGE AND LOAD CONTENTS: Place the most critical or first-use items at the top or in a consistent location to build reliable muscle memory under stress. Do not force the zipper closed. Over-packing stresses seams and will impede item retrieval when speed matters most.

7. CONDUCT ACCESS DRILLS: Execute access drills with both gloved and bare hands before going operational. Confirm retrieval speed and item location meet the readiness standard for your mission profile.

8. PRE-DEPLOYMENT INSPECTION: Confirm PALS straps are correctly woven and all snaps are secured. Check that the zipper operates smoothly and is free of dirt or debris. Visually inspect the pouch body for rips, tears, or abrasions. Verify all contents are mission-appropriate, not expired, and properly staged.
