The tactical function of the hydrant bag is to physically marry mission-critical tools to the supply line so the operator arrives at the water source with full capability and zero equipment gaps. The bag is positioned 12 to 24 inches behind the male coupling during pre-deployment setup, loaded with the department's standard tool complement, and staged in the hose bed for a snag-free lay. Field Application Steps

1. TOOL LOADOUT: Stock the bag with your department's standard hydrant tool complement, typically one hydrant wrench, one or two spanner wrenches, and any required adapters. Do not overload the bag, as excess weight risks seam failure and premature closure wear.

2. POSITIONING ON HOSE: Place the loaded bag on the designated supply line approximately 12 to 24 inches behind the male coupling. This placement prevents interference with the hose connection at the hydrant.

3. MOUNTING AND TENSIONING: Route both Velcro straps under the hose and back through their guides, then cinch each strap to maximum tightness. The bag must not rotate or slide along the hose; any detectable movement constitutes a deployment failure and requires immediate re-tensioning.

4. SECURE THE FLAP: Place all tools inside the bag and firmly press the Velcro flap closure along its entire length. Confirm full contact across the closure surface before loading the hose into the hose bed.

5. STAGE IN HOSE BED: Load the hose with the attached bag into the hose bed per your department's protocol. Verify the lay is snag-free so the bag deploys cleanly when the line is pulled.

6. DEPLOY TO HYDRANT: Pull the supply line from the hose bed and proceed toward the hydrant. The hydrant bag travels with the hose end and arrives at the water source with the operator.

7. ACCESS TOOLS ON ARRIVAL: Upon reaching the hydrant, drop the hose and coupling. Grasp the flap tab and pull the Velcro closure open with one hand, then remove the hydrant wrench and any other required tools.

8. MAINTAIN BAG ATTACHMENT POST-ACCESS: Leave the bag secured to the hose after removing tools and proceed with standard hydrant operations. This keeps all tools co-located with the hose and prevents loss or misplacement on the fireground.
