Quick Overview

The R&B MOLLE Med Pouch is an empty, modular 90-cubic-inch container that mounts to PALS/MOLLE platforms, enabling operators to organize and rapidly deploy mission-essential medical or utility equipment from a plate carrier, assault pack, or belt system.

The pouch is constructed from 500D nylon, providing high abrasion and tear resistance with inherent water resistance. Its single internal compartment measures 6 inches high by 5 inches wide by 3 inches deep, sized to support a focused, role-specific loadout such as a hemorrhage control kit with two combat tourniquets, a pressure dressing, hemostatic gauze, and nitrile gloves, or a diagnostic kit with a BP cuff, stethoscope, pulse oximeter, and pupil light. Contents requiring waterproofing must be addressed separately based on the operational environment.

Deployment capability depends on two design features working together: the front-facing vertical zipper and the PALS attachment webbing on the rear. The zipper enables one-handed access without manipulating buckles or flaps, which is critical when the operator's other hand is occupied with a patient or weapon. The two vertical PALS straps must be correctly interwoven through both the platform webbing and the pouch's own rear webbing rows to prevent loss of the pouch and its contents during movement.

Readiness protocol for this pouch follows a four-phase cycle: loadout configuration, platform mounting, field access, and post-use reset with resupply. Pre-mission inspection covers seam integrity, zipper function, strap condition, and contents verification including expiration dates. The zipper track must be kept free of sand, mud, and grit, as debris-induced zipper failure will deny access to lifesaving equipment at the moment it is needed most.

Field Application Steps

1. DEFINE ROLE: Designate the pouch for one single, specific function before packing it. Choose from Hemorrhage Control, Airway Management, Diagnostics, or a defined Utility role, and do not mix functions across a single pouch.

2. SELECT AND STAGE CONTENTS: Choose the minimum necessary equipment for the assigned role and pack items in order of anticipated use. For a hemorrhage kit, the tourniquet must be the first item accessible; pre-open packaging where tactically feasible to reduce retrieval time.

3. CONFIRM FIT BEFORE MOUNTING: Close the zipper fully after packing. The pouch should be full but not strained. A strained zipper is a failure point and must be corrected by removing items before proceeding.

4. SELECT MOUNTING LOCATION: Identify a position on the PALS grid that is reachable with either hand and does not interfere with the sidearm, magazines, or other critical equipment already on the platform.

5. EXECUTE INITIAL WEAVE: Unsnap the two vertical attachment straps on the rear of the pouch. Insert the strap ends behind the first row of horizontal MOLLE webbing on the platform.

6. INTERWEAVE THROUGH POUCH WEBBING: Pull the straps down and weave them through the first row of webbing on the back of the pouch itself. This step is the most commonly missed in the mounting sequence and is non-negotiable for stability.

7. CONTINUE ALTERNATING PATTERN: Continue weaving through platform webbing and then pouch webbing in an alternating pattern until all available webbing rows are utilized by both straps.

8. SECURE AND VERIFY ATTACHMENT: Pull both straps tight and fasten the snaps. Aggressively pull and twist the pouch in multiple directions to confirm zero vertical or horizontal play. Re-weave completely if any movement is detected.

9. ORIENT ZIPPER PULLS: Position zipper pulls for consistent, predictable one-handed access based on the operator's dominant and non-dominant hand reach. Practice access under realistic conditions before deployment.

10. CONDUCT PRE-MISSION INSPECTION: Verify seam and stitching integrity, full zipper operation without binding, snap engagement under moderate pulling force, and correct contents including expiration dates and packing order.

11. EXECUTE FIELD ACCESS: Locate the pouch by tactile feel or known position without visual confirmation. Grasp the zipper pull tab and decisively open the compartment. Retrieve and deploy the pre-staged primary item immediately.

12. RESET AND RESUPPLY POST-USE: Conduct a full inventory as soon as the operational situation permits. Replace all used items to restore mission-ready state. Clean the exterior and zipper track of dirt, blood, and fluids using a stiff brush, mild soap, and water. Air dry completely before re-packing. Do not machine wash or use bleach.
