Quick Overview

The R&B Fabrications S800 Opioid OD Kit is a dedicated rapid-access carrier for Naloxone and administration PPE, used by law enforcement, EMS, school resource officers, and security personnel to reduce deployment time during opioid overdose emergencies.

The S800 carrier is purpose-built to isolate mission-critical overdose response components from general-purpose gear. Its 1000 Denier Cordura nylon chassis provides high-abrasion, fluid-resistant durability for daily duty use. Dual elastic retention loops secure Naloxone devices against shifting and impact, while a transparent zippered pocket allows immediate visual confirmation of PPE and accessories without opening the bag. Lockable zipper slides with integrated eyelets accept tamper-evident seals, providing instant accountability when the kit is inspected at shift start.

Field deployment follows a three-phase protocol: scene assessment and PPE donning, medication identification and device preparation, and administration with post-care documentation. Nitrile gloves stored in the transparent pocket are accessed before any patient contact. The operator identifies the Naloxone device in the retention loops, prepares it per device type, and administers per agency medical protocol. A second dose must be available if the patient does not respond within the protocol-specified timeframe.

Readiness is maintained through daily pre-shift inspections covering exterior integrity, zipper function, and tamper seal confirmation, and through monthly checks following the three E's: Existence, Expiration, and Equipment Integrity. After any deployment, the kit must be fully restocked, cleaned, and re-sealed with a new serialized tamper-evident seal before returning to service.

Field Application Steps

1. PRE-SHIFT INSPECTION: Visually inspect the exterior for rips, tears, or failing stitching, and confirm the attachment system (clip or belt loops) is secure. Operate both zippers to verify smooth function, then confirm the tamper-evident seal is intact before logging the inspection per agency requirements.

2. CONFIRM KIT READINESS: Visually verify contents through the transparent zippered pocket without opening the bag. Confirm that at minimum two Naloxone doses, one pair of nitrile gloves, and two atomizers are present and that no packaging appears compromised.

3. SCENE ASSESSMENT: On arrival, confirm scene safety by scanning for exposed needles or hazardous materials before approaching the subject. Verbally announce "DEPLOYING NALOXONE KIT" to notify bystanders and any responding units.

4. DON PPE: Open the main compartment using the zipper pulls, breaking the tamper-evident seal with a decisive pull if present. Immediately access the transparent pocket and don nitrile gloves before making any patient contact.

5. IDENTIFY AND PREPARE THE NALOXONE DEVICE: Visually locate the Naloxone device secured in the dual elastic retention loops and remove it. For a nasal spray, remove the protective cap. For a syringe, attach the MAD atomizer retrieved from the transparent pocket.

6. POSITION AND ADMINISTER: Position the patient and yourself according to your medical training and agency protocol. Administer the full dose of Naloxone and initiate rescue breathing or other supportive care if trained and authorized to do so.

7. MONITOR AND PREPARE SECOND DOSE: Monitor the patient for response within the protocol-specified timeframe. If no response is observed, prepare and administer the second dose per agency medical protocol.

8. POST-DEPLOYMENT CARE AND DOCUMENTATION: Safely doff used PPE and dispose of all used devices in an appropriate sharps or biohazard container. Report kit use to your chain of command immediately to initiate resupply and complete required documentation.

9. POST-DEPLOYMENT KIT SERVICING: Open the kit fully and conduct a complete inspection using the three E's: Existence, Expiration, and Equipment Integrity. Wipe the interior and exterior with a service-approved disinfectant, allow it to air dry completely, restock all components, and apply a new serialized tamper-evident seal. Document the new seal number in the equipment log before returning the kit to service.
