Quick Overview

The R&B Fabrications PPE Duffel Bag is a dedicated, lightweight transport and staging container designed for emergency responders, tactical operators, and preparedness personnel who need to store, protect, and rapidly deploy a complete individual PPE ensemble from a single grab-and-go package.

Constructed from 400 Denier Nylon Pack Cloth, the bag provides a flexible, abrasion-resistant barrier that protects sensitive PPE components including respirator lenses, filter cartridges, and suit integrity from dust, debris, and minor moisture during staging in patrol vehicles, equipment lockers, and response apparatus. A full-length zippered main compartment allows the top of the bag to open completely, giving the operator immediate, unobstructed access to all contents in the correct donning sequence without searching through a closed or partially accessible container. Dual webbing carry handles enable one-handed retrieval from any storage location, reducing the time between staging and deployment readiness.

This bag is a transport container, not an environmental barrier. The nylon and zipper seams are not sealed, meaning the bag provides no protection against chemical or biological vapors, immersion, or heavy precipitation. In a HazMat or CBRN environment, the exterior of the bag must be treated as contaminated and subjected to full decontamination protocol consistent with the rest of the PPE ensemble.

Operational readiness requires inspection at the start of every shift and immediately following any training or deployment use. Inspection must cover fabric integrity, zipper function across its full length, and stitching at all seams and handle attachment points. PPE must never be stored in a damp bag, as moisture promotes mildew and degrades filter and seal integrity.

Field Application Steps

1. SELECT THE CORRECT BAG SIZE: Choose the Large (2,600 cu. in.) for a basic mask, suit, and glove kit. Select the Extra-Large (3,750 cu. in.) if the loadout includes boots, a helmet, or a bulky SCBA facepiece.

2. INSPECT ALL PPE BEFORE PACKING: Examine every component for function and expiration dates prior to loading, including respirator seals, filter cartridges, and suit integrity. Do not pack any item that fails inspection or is past its service life.

3. PACK CONTENTS IN REVERSE DONNING ORDER: Place heavier, last-donned items such as boot covers at the bottom of the bag. Place critical, fragile, first-donned items such as the respirator or mask on top, and protect mask lenses from contact with hard or sharp objects.

4. CONFIRM CONTENTS AGAINST YOUR LOAD LIST: Verify all packed items against your agency's required loadout before closing the bag. Close and zip the bag fully before stowing.

5. STOW IN A DESIGNATED, CONSISTENT LOCATION: Place the bag in a fixed, easily accessible location known to all personnel who may need to retrieve it. Store away from direct sunlight, high heat sources, sharp objects, and chemical contaminants including fuel and oil.

6. RETRIEVE AND POSITION AT THE STAGING AREA: Upon arrival at the cold zone, retrieve the bag by the carry handles and place it on a clean, stable surface such as a deployment tarp or clean pavement. Avoid mud, puddles, or any contaminated ground.

7. OPEN AND DON PPE IN PROTOCOL SEQUENCE: Fully open the zippered main compartment and remove equipment in the sequence dictated by your training and agency protocol. Use the open bag as a staging surface as you don each component.

8. EXECUTE POST-INCIDENT CONTAMINATION CONTROL: If the bag entered a warm or hot zone, treat it as contaminated and subject it to the same decontamination procedures as the rest of your ensemble. Do not repack used or contaminated PPE into the bag.

9. RESTORE READINESS AFTER EVERY USE: After decontamination and incident closeout, conduct a full inventory. Replace all disposable items used, confirm all reusable items are clean and functional, and repack the bag to return it to full deployment readiness for the next operational period.
